  1. Snow and sleet looking more prevalent in the Bville area currently.
  2. I think the pattern has already changed, despite it still looking crappy. At least now we are getting chances at some winter each week, with high temps remaining mostly in the 30s. It is still a sucky pattern, BUT it is better than the end of December/first half of January pattern.
  3. According to my friend and webcams, it is creating a slushy covering on things.
  4. Well, I left Syracuse for the weekend...so Snow bombs away!
  5. On 81 between Syracuse and Binghamton. Highway has sleet all over it. Vehicles in ditches. Precipitation looks fairly heavy...could possibly end up more wintry today. When we left Bville after 7 there was some sleet and slop flakes mixing in.
  6. I realized this has now become my daily routine. 1) Check out the latest model runs. 2) Say to myself, "Awful, awful, awful weather pattern." 3)) Grumble about it and then move on with my day. 4) Look at the clock, "Oh, it's time for the latest model runs!" 5) Go back to step 1.
  7. Neither NWS office is entertaining any thoughts of what the Euro is showing.
  8. Surprisingly with temps in the mid 40s there still isn't much melting going on. No big dripping or anything. Snowpack has compacted some more, but still looks like a solid 5 to 6 inches. Low dewpoints continue to protect.
  9. Fair enough. I would be more hopeful about that happening this weekend if the Canadian had stayed the course. Now that it has backed off, the Euro steps up to the plate. Can they ever just agree?!? lol I am back and forth on what I am hoping for. Part of me doesn't want heavy rain, but then the other part of me says we may have to endure heavy rain to possibly bring enough cooling down for a change to snow. Otherwise, it's steady rain with the hope that the lakes can provide SOMETHING afterwards. But, as we know, the synoptic systems AND Lakes have not been kind.
  10. It's so easy for the temp to hit the 40s and 50s in Marchuary.
  11. What do you Syracuse guys think? Do you think our snowpack will absorb most of the rain coming tomorrow?
  12. Here's to hoping for not much rain tomorrow, and perhaps we can get the lakes to cooperate for some good lake enhancement during the 2nd half of the weekend.
  13. Don't you just love how the rain blossoms over Central NY on Saturday? All the other systems when it has been "cold" enough to snow, it falls apart. Give us our rain, crap slop, and then some consolation snow showers.
  14. Curious...is there anybody on here that doesn't have a solid snowpack? 6 dense inches on the ground here.
  15. It's clear across almost off subs that there isn't much hope in any long-term pattern change. You can sense the overall "meh" many are feeling. Bummer.
  16. It's ridiculous how much these models jump all over the place from one run to the next. I feel like they have gotten worse. Or they just weren't engineered to handle all of the chaotic weather changes that seem to almost go against normal science.
  17. The low dewpoint, lack of sunshine, and frozen layer on top of the snow is really helping to preserve our snowpack. Hasn't really budged at all today. Might lose some tomorrow and with some rain on Saturday, but hopefully with some backside snows this weekend, and temps mostly maxing in the mid 30s next week, we might actually make it with a couple weeks of consistent snowcover.
  18. Beautiful winter morning this morning while driving to work. Sunrise of many colors with the blue-white snowpack. Had to savor it. Have a good day, all!
  19. Colder in the mountains of NC than anywhere in Upstate NY, VT, and NH!
  20. It's really tough when there just isn't any cold air available. If the secondary can get its act together and drag down some colder air, that may be our best hope. We could end up getting a Seattle-like snowfall...
  21. Sooooo...Syracuse, Albany, or Boston. Obviously I DON'T want the first option.
