  1. Oh my word. At this point, I would rather stay in Florida until Spring than keep dealing with this muck up of a winter. Mid 50s with 30 mph gusts here today. Actually feels pretty cold after days of mid 80s! The hoodies and winter coats are out all over.
  2. Urrrrrrrrgh. And then mid 40s right for my return!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Nice. Then it warms up and melts it just in time for me to come home on Sunday. lol Went to Clearwater today and enjoyed a beautiful sunset over the Gulf of Mexico...mid 70s and a breeze felt kind of cool. Florida winter reminds me of a cool summer up there.
  4. How much of today's snowfall have you melted off up there?
  5. I told you guys...now that I'm away for a week...best LES event for Syracuse the past two years...coming tomorrow night.
  6. I am watching the snow on the Live Webcams and turned the AC way up high so it's like I am there... Not really on the A/C...wife would wail. Speaking of her, she has just arisen. Time to go for a walk around the lake and under the palms. Then take a swim and enjoy the lazy river. You jealous? Have a great day, fellas!
  7. At least I won't have to watch it turn into a slushy, goopy mess in a couple hours. I certainly won't feel sad missing out on that. However, if you guys get an excellent Lake effect snow band tomorrow night that I have been waiting for the past 2 winters.........................................................................................
  8. I could see how 3 of those 4 could bring one energy. But humidity? Meeeeeeeehhhhhhh
  9. Only supposed to be 63 degrees on Friday. That's my kind of summer weather. I can't wait to take pictures of Floridians in their Parkas.
  10. An over-achiever AND WNW lake effect snow band while I'm gone????????? I will just sit here and wallow in my 87 degree heat down in Florida. At least the wife is happy.....lol, j/k, sort of. I have never been in the south during the winter. It has been odd walking around in shorts knowing that there is snow up home. I also keep thinking, "Why is it getting dark so early?" because in my mind, "summer" equals light being around until 9 or 10...then I have to remember it's still "winter" down here. 70 degrees actually felt a little "chilly" during my nightly walk last night! I have seen people walking around in hoodies, and the temp was in the mid-80s! I would seriously pass out if I had a hoodie on at 86 degrees. I also find it interesting that some of the deciduous trees are in their dormancy, and just starting to flower as Florida heads into Spring. At the same time, there are trees that still have all their leaves or only lost some of them. I pondered whether that would make them coniferous or not. Musings from a nature lover...
  11. Southern weenies are super excited about the nam and are ignoring the euro They will definitely be disappointed if they follow the NAM. It has promised us so much snow up here in Upstate NY this winter...and failed many times. Add the GEFS to that. I would have 200 inches of snow for the winter if they were right. Wisdom: Trust those who have lived through it and experienced it. Don't trust the NAM!
  12. Of course you guys will finally get a decent lake effect snow event...I am in Florida!!!!!
  13. 80 miles away from Savannah, Georgia. Will be in Orlando by this evening. 60 degrees here in SC. Get ready, Upstate NY...this will be your view in future winters:
  14. About 3 inches total between the "system" and small amount of lake effect. The 3-week rule I have for this winter would put us getting our next event right at the end of February/Beginning of March. I am basing this off of our "event" from last Friday. This week was lame, and the winter pattern I have observed would suggest the next 2 weeks will be as well.
  15. Thanks. Glad you're getting to enjoy some nice snowfall!
  16. Nice...went from 8 to 10 inches on many of the models consistently for days and ended with 1 inch over 2 days. lol You're killing me, Lake Ontario...killing me! Oh, and the southerly winds...and northerly winds...and southerly winds.
  17. I don't understand why there just seems to be no lake influence here. The flow is NW...why is Buffalo getting such good snow on a NW wind? Isn't that a good flow for the Syracuse area? It's like living in a bubble . Warm bubble last night...dry bubble tonight...Lake Ontario has sucked way worse than Erie this year.
  18. The cold air came in to Central NY, and the snow shut off. Par for the course. Enjoy, Buffalo and Rochester!
  19. I wonder if there are still areas of the Tug that are under 100 inches on the year. With (I don't think?) no West wind or SW wind events, I'm sure there is a huge deficit up there.
  20. Rochester has probably had the "best" lake effect this year of any of the big cities. The NNW winds have been the only reliable wind direction it seems.. 4 inches on this event??!? You seem to be outdoing the Syracuse area by far with almost every system. Syracuse has had most of our snowfall come with "events" about every 3 weeks.
  21. I think why many think this winter is so bad is because of all the failures that have occurred. Other winters have obviously been worse. This one, though, has sucked us in with lots of possibilities...with most of them being disappointments. i.e last night's failure. One positive is all the mixes/ice/thawing and freezing have helped to maintain a snowpack for much of the winter...at least in this area.
  22. 1 inch of gloppity glop here as well. Trees look pretty. Then 2 days of winter and it is right back to the Pacific NW of 40 degree highs/lows.
  23. Lol...just see this winter for the reality of what it is. I am just about through the grieving process, and close to acceptance. Perhaps we can still get a huge surprise in the right direction. That is when weather is really fun.
  24. Big wet snowflakes here as well. Freak, it cools down pretty quickly once precipitation starts. Ratios are gonna bite though.
