With the Low taking the track it looks to be tracking, this will be a Westerly wind to SW wind lake effect event, with most synoptic missing much of Upstate NY. Doubtful the last minute shift S and E occurs.
For sure. This winter has brought back some memories of waiting weeks for any winter time fun like that in Lancaster.
Graduated from Penn Manor in 2000. Best winter storm I have ever experienced (even to this day) was the Blizzard of 96 in Lancaster. 36 inches in a day and a half.
So I am heading back to PA to get some things from my parents, as my wife and I are moving into a new place in the Lysander area. Guess when I am leaving? Friday evening through Saturday afternoon...right when the best chances are for LES here. Get your shovel ready...LOL
I will go with your experience and wisdom on this. Yet another snoozer in the Syracuse area?
I am again surprised by how much more snow we still have on the ground here though compared to the city and areas closer to it.
I will say...even for those outside of the main snowbelts, most areas will have fresh snow on the ground by the end of the week. It looks like a rare case for this winter where we will have cold AND moisture very much available for several days.
Time for me to go back to Florida?
P.S. to all the GEFS maps being posted...Are we really going to believe the GEFS??? They have showed that exact same snowfall setup sooooooooo many times this winter...and failed. I would love to believe them, as they look good for us in Central NY, but I am highly skeptical.
You can already see them trending that way in their forecasts being issued. Now, we are at, "Chances for snow showers" instead of the many days of "Snow showers likely" that they had for us.
Yawn. Same ol' pattern of warm air nosing up through the Finger Lakes while Western NY gets snow. Then most of the lake effect will be up north.
We all have the windows open at work because it's so warm.
Woke up to a chilly 24 degrees in the mountains of Western Virginia. Colder morning here than Syracuse.
Will be back to Upstate this evening. Good morning!
That would be the ultimate smack in my face...
Finally a WNW lake event while I am gone, and a nice over achiever...just to come home to days of 40s and rain...AND a Westerly lake effect event with all the snow just to my north.
Gaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh
The models are still awaiting what my final decision is...will he extend his vacation through next week? Slam those upstaters with snowfall?
Oh wait, he is coming home? Wagons west, boys!!!!
(P.S. No way I can stay down here longer. Work duties call....enjoy your rain next week. lol)
