  1. Wow, you've had lots of sickness surrounding your local family/community lately. My compassion is with you.
  2. Seriously?? I don't get benefits. I don't get the frickin summer off. I don't work a 9 to 5 job. I didn't take a position that pays well. If you saw my post earlier, I don't even get health insurance.....and you know why I chose this position??? Because I love teaching kids and influencing them. I barely get paid to answer emails and phone calls and facetime chats and from 8 am to 10 pm....I could go on and on. You people on your high horses who think you know what teaching is like..... Get off my flpping back...because I LOVE my job. I am walking alongside MANY families that are struggling with what to do. Parents who are nurses, policemen, etc..... Don't fricken judge me when you aren't even walking in my shoes. I didn't say I had it any worse. Once again, I don't get any benefits...none...and again...I LOVE my job. I just see the stress of all my students and their families. And no, 10 weeks of summer DON'T make up for all the UNPAID hours I work during evenings and weekends throughout the year. But....you know what....I teach only because I care only about myself...isn't that why all teachers teach??? Puh lease. Step off.
  3. Yes, my wife and I didn't have Health Insurance until this winter as well. We went with Excellus (Blue Cross/Blue Shield) and got approved for the Essential Plan. It is an excellent option if your income level falls within a certain range.
  4. Yep! One of the most misunderstood professions ever. I LOVE teaching, encouraging, challenging, and guiding kids of all ages. Being a sensitive man, teaching is definitely my calling. I taught for 6 years and then needed a break because I got burnt out from parents and their drama. Now I came back to the profession. Parents project all their issues on to teachers.
  5. Sooooo, got the news that New York State is telling schools to "forget the planned Spring Break" and continue education. To do that on the WEEK OF the expected break is disrespectful and maddening. I love my students...but this break was meant to be a MENTAL and EMOTIONAL break for teachers and students. My school has been working hard in educating our students virtually up to the start of break. I feel this is just the state pushing teachers to have to keep students entertained and supplied for when there are some things PARENTS should be responsible for. END RANT.
  6. Very true...I was thinking about that as well. Regardless, it shows that there are definitely more people who have it. I mostly do Aldi. So there it is disinfecting the cart and quarters. If I go at 10 am, it is usually reaaaaally quiet then. Thanks for the tips!
  7. Ha! There are definitely a couple trolls on the Bville FB pages. There's one dude who is mocking all the people who are upset about the people who were partying in the parking lot at Radisson the other day.
  8. I wonder if that circle waaaaaay up in Northern Ontario is a mistake. lol
  9. I've been checking out this website. You can go to the map and zoom out. Scroll over any of the dots and it gives you exact numbers. https://www.rochesterregional.org/coronavirus-covid19
  10. Typical confrontational New Yorkers. lol I have witnessed SO many people in the Syracuse area yelling at each other (random strangers) about trivial things the past couple weeks. This whole situation is adding so much stress to a population that is already high-strung and wound-up.
  11. Well, as we've seen, it seems that once it gets into the 100s, cases start popping up very quickly. With so much of the shopping being in Clay, and a higher number count there, I will stay away from there. So close to home. I may go to the Aldi over in Bville this week. Not as dense of a population over that way.
  12. It's definitely spreading throughout almost all communities across New York state now. Looks like it is more concentrated in the southern part of Oswego county, but working its way north and east. https://socpa.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/7bd218bc8be04b209c0b80a83fc2eba5 Onondaga jumped up quickly since yesterday morning. 70 some new cases and almost to 200 infected. Clay/Cicero seems to be a hotspot, so not surprised at all with southern Oswego county.
  13. Numbers starting to take off here in the Syracuse area. We are probably going to surpass the 150 mark today, if we haven't already. Here is our County Tracker. My town, as of yesterday, had 5. https://socpa.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/7bd218bc8be04b209c0b80a83fc2eba5 I was reading yesterday in our local paper that New York is considering sending people up to our hospitals if they end up running out of spaces down there. But, we may be seeing LOTS of cases popping up here this week.
  14. Despite reeeeeeally wanting to give this winter a failing grade, I can't. It wasn't snowless, so it gets a D...but so many disappointments. Winter temps get an F. No consistent cold temps whatsoever...except for a week in November. A whole bunch of D/F winters in a row has been depressing.
  15. I envision you have a cellar in your house filled with chicken, TP, space suits, and disinfectants. Unfortunately, many of us are going to get this at some point in the next year...there isn't much way of avoiding it. The scary thing is the unknown of whether you will end up as a statistic.
  16. Wow, those numbers across the countries have gone up FAST since I last looked.
  17. Still a solid snowcover here. Sort of surprised. It is definitely melting, but still have a few inches left.
  18. Yeah, we were getting off and on snow showers in Bville this morning. Some nice-sized flakes came down for a while. Two wintry days in a row! I had to get a permanent tooth extracted...and 3 fillings done this morning. Thanks to a ridiculous healthcare system in the U.S., I was unable to get much dental work done over the years. Now, that I FINALLY have health insurance that I can afford...I can get some neglected work done. Healthcare is so backwards.
  19. Took an hour + long nap, thinking it would be done when I woke up. Snow still coming down beautifully.
  20. Oh, look at that. Right over "Worth." Like they need anymore snow...
  21. Yikes. It's getting hot in here...and not Corona fever hot....
  22. Yeah, I'm at a crossroads. Do I cancel and wait for weeks/months (possibly getting an infection in my mouth) or risk it???
  23. 1) Took BGM long enough... 2) I have heard a plow truck go past a couple times now. 3) My tooth broke big time today...so now I need to go to the dentist tomorrow....urgh.
