There you go...crushing my cool-weather dreams again.... Hey, we agree! Spring is my least favorite as well. -

Hopefully there won't be another 40 day streak for a LOOOOONG time. lol... Once we get to the 3rd week of August is when I start to notice the definite turn towards Fall...much shorter days, cloud types, mosquitoes disappear, apples season JUST beginning. If we can take next week's predicted weather and hang in the Upper 70s to Lower 80s (Lower to Mid 70s would be even better) for the next couple weeks, I will be a happy man. Good point about happiness. It is a choice we each need to make. I know I will NOT complain about the cold in winter because I want winter. We all know I complain when the snow won't come...lol Good reminder to make peace with whatever we get, because some things we have no control over. But we do have control over our attitudes and how we respond. -

I think Syracuse finally broke its 40+ consecutive day stretch with highs over 80 degrees. We only made it to 79 degrees today. I don't think the official temp hit 80 at SYR Hancock. It was mostly 76 to 78 here throughout the day. The temp felt nice, but it has been MUGGY. This marks just the beginning of our downward trend towards Fall. -

3 to 4 inches of ice?!? Holy moley! Ice Storms produce some amazing scenery but, oh so dangerous and destructive. It would be one of the few ways to actually close schools now, since power outages equal no online learning. -

2020: Devastating Ice Storms cometh. Most people hate those. Throw in some high winds at the same time so Delta can get his jollies. -

I was thinking the same thing about the lake-effect band look. We had some scattered thunderstorms here in the Syracuse area today. Very small, pop-cells here in Northern Onondaga county. I'm glad we got a couple of them. Any water we can get! -

You're welcome. I helped break the summer heat records over in West Michigan after I moved there as well. My incredible ability to be a walking furnace wherever I go. Maybe it's a secret X-men power? Name: Global Warmer It reminds me of the Sea Breeze fronts they get down in Florida. I wonder if this is a similar setup? I know the winds were coming from the North earlier today over there. -
Man, the plants in Lancaster county, in general, are taking a beating. My hometown friends there have been posting pictures of the Spotted Lanternflies and all the damage they have been causing to the vegetation. There are concerns about the fruit orchards being destroyed by these nasty insects as well. Just another blow to the agricultural sector during an already trying year.

Man, wolfie. You are all over the place. haha...The farthest north I will get my wife to at this point is Western Oswego County...we like the Granby/Hinmansville area. Nice and rural, but still close to Syracuse via 48/690 for her commute, as well as the stores in Fulton. It's also a pretty good Lake effect snow area. AND my commute to Bville would be mostly back roads. (I would avoid 48.) She will never move back to Redfield. Way too desolate for her. -

It was another nice morning to go for a walk on the Onondaga Lake Parkway here in the Syracuse area. Got home just in time before the rain started..which was also a nice bonus to the day. The grass/plants need it, and it kept the temp. in the mid 70s. Then, went out this evening to clean up the car with sun shining, and boy was it muggy! -

Not loco..just tremendously dislike heat. I haven't allowed that to stop me from enjoying the summer though. I have been going on lots of hikes, especially on the days when the high is in the lower 80s and lower. Fortunately, there have been lots of nice breezes to make it more manageable here as well. Plus...I LOVE fall. Days in the 60s and 70s with lower humidity and lots of sunshine...with crisp, fresh nights for sleeping and hoodies. Mid-September to the End of October is a glorious time. -

Only about a month until average temps really start their decline. Can...not...wait! -
Hey, guys. Been a while... You all know how much I loooooooooooooove heat.... So, I have been hibernating inside checking out your posts during the winters of the past decade. It's a great way for me to still get my snow fix. lol I already keep up the hope by acknowledging that days are now getting shorter and in a month average highs begin dropping again. It helps me stay Summer sane. P.S. What is up with Upstate New York consistently being hotter than most places to the south this summer? How abnormal is it?

Upstate NY Banter and General Discussion..

Yes, I actually massage my own hands frequently. It's amazing how simple things we can easily change can make a big difference. One of my teaching colleagues was excited when I saw her last week because she tested positive for the antibodies. I told her it must be a big relief and freeing to be in this position. It also makes me wonder if she had Covid while we were still in school. If so, many of us could have been exposed already. It's made me consider going and getting myself checked. -

I find this Grounding discussion very intriguing. I am all about reactivating the body. Acupuncture helps with the nervous system, Chiropractic Care helps with the Skeletal system and so many other organ systems, etc... I have yet to do acupuncture or grounding, but my wife and I started Chiropractic care years ago and will continue doing it the rest of our lives. If none of you have tried one, I also strongly advocate using an inversion table. (I just got off mine.) Helps battle against the forces of gravity always pushing our bodies down, down, down, and the negative effects that can play. It is great for stretching out your body. I know both of these methods have helped reduce my anxiety and to think more clearly and feel better as the pathways inside my body are opened back up. The less drugs and chemicals I "have" to put in my body, the better. -

Hey, welcome to the board. Where did you move from? I thought somebody answered this question for you the other day? So far, the pattern has been a roller coaster for this summer. The Buffalo area rarely hits 90 or above because of its proximity to Lake Erie. So if you're hoping for a scorcher of a summer, Buffalo is not your place to be. I would say it's safe to plan on mid 70s to mid 80s most days. -

If we don't have money, will you accept hand sanitizer by the teaspoon and gently used face masks? -

This means that Freak is going to be our big snowfall winner over the coming winters Now he can brag when a snowband brings him 2 inches while the rest of us get a dusting. -

I like it. If I wanted weeks of unending Summer heat, I'd live in Georgia. I find the cooler reprieves from the heat to be refreshing. It's easier to take and "enjoy" the 90 degree days knowing that a break is in sight 2 days away. -

I wouldn't step in any of the lakes around Syracuse....I'd be glowing... It might be easier to just "hop in" a friends pool if I had kids. Otherwise many people just want to enjoy their pools in their privacy. The community we live in has a public pool available, but that's...well....not available right now. The Y has an awesome indoor water park...but...well, that's closed still. We will find some opportunities to enjoy beach days, as we do every summer. With work and other projects, months of 80s and 90s are unnecessary for me personally. I will be happy for you on the sweltering days that come this summer (while I hibernate inside in the A/C. haha)
