  1. No. I would rather enjoy the Fall Foliage that I wait 11.5 months to see. We had some good color and then last week's wind event ripped it off....starting to get good again...rinse and repeat. No wind! In my perfect world, we'd have three months of Fall color, 5 months of solid winter snowfall and snowpack, and 4 months of 60 to 75 degree highs with 50 degree lows and no humidity....without black flies, deer flies, and mosquitoes. Not happening...but I can dream.
  2. Hah! True that. Hopefully they're just "blips" but it's hard to go against recent model output given recent winters.
  3. Good point and thanks for the reminder. Looks like it's been an interesting day for the Buffalo/Western NY folks!
  4. The Syracuse region...the warmest place in Upstate New York (outside of maybe Dansville and Elmira)...somebody could fart on top of one of the hills South of here and our temps would warm up.
  5. This "cold" shot sure fizzled away. One day of 50s for highs and then it's pretty much back to normal temps for early October. Cold fronts bring "normal" temps these days...lol
  6. Great idea. I will have to take my snowshoes with me in the winter. I probably won't get out of work in time to do it in the evenings I love the 10K trail (yellow trail). You get back in those deep woods and there is nobody around!
  7. @wolfie09, the second and third in the first set were from Great Bear between Phoenix and Fulton. I love all the trails there!
  8. Always like your pictures! Nah, they're saying..."We, too, are sick of 2020...wake us up in 2021."
  9. Thanks for sharing your beautiful New England foliage pics! Here in Upstate New York, the colors have rapidly been popping this past week...especially the last couple of days. Many places are going to be bare by Mid-October.
  10. I am guessing there will be too much cloud cover and breeziness with this next push of cold air to allow for much frost or freezing.
  11. The climate is just making sure we have yet another above normal September.
  12. Oh, yay. Cutters even suck in the early fall too. Right when the leaves start changing...knock em down! lol
  13. There's some nice colors really starting to show here this week...especially over the past 2 days.
  14. As much as I love wintry weather, I LOVE fall and the colors and would hate to see the leaves get knocked off early with a cold blast. Plus, I would also hate to see us waste a great pattern in early fall when it would most likely be MUCH better in the winter.
  15. Went up to Appledale Orchards in Mexico to get my annual couple half bushels of Galas and the wife got Honey Crisps...surprised the Honey Crisps were the same price! It was such a beautiful Fall day and the orchard was BUSSSSSY!
  16. Snow days in NYC? What are those? Local school here has a couple students that tested positive and the school is now closing for in-person teaching. Wondering if I'll be back to online teaching by October...
  17. Just came back from PA. Colors are definitely starting to show...a little bit. Most visible color changes were around Bradford, PA, along 86 in the higher elevations between Olean and Hornell, and actually here in Northwestern Onondaga County.
  18. That actually looks A LOT like the map you posted in reference to temp. departures during a Nina winter. I hope to see a similar pattern like this showing up often over the cold season.
  19. I knew I had seen this somewhere on here.....with the very few samples shown here, it doesn't look too bad during a Moderate? (I knew strong ones were not good for us...)
  20. Boo. Thanks for the information! I might be recalling Moderate Nina stats from my Michigan days. So...keep my expectations low. That can lead to pleasant surprises.
