  1. That looks like a possible WNW event. Sure would be nice if it actually happened.
  2. I am pretty solidly in a realistic mindset that any snow we get this upcoming winter will not last more than a couple days. I keep catching myself thinking, "Oh, is it "supposed" to be chilly like this this time of year? I think this upcoming week is going to be the exact preview of what we see for most of this winter. 50s...a day or two of 30s with snow showers...then 50s..rinse and repeat. Pacific Jet and SE Ridge will continue the theme of ruling winter.
  3. BW, where's your fence? I expect to see a webcam of you holding your fence up in the 60mph winds... If we can't see snow, I want to see you posing sideways at your fence. Something that would make Jim Cantore proud.
  4. Albany seriously needs to adjust their thermometer at the airport. It has consistently shown temperatures several degrees colder than surrounding spots this year. Every single local location around it is 44, 45, 46 degrees, and the airport has been at 41 all day (just barely hit 42 degrees).
  5. I'm required to wear a mask and/or shield for work...normally I wear my shield outside at recess. The one day this week, I chose to wore my mask. I was playing tag with the kiddos and holy cow, I could not breathe. I had to stand way far back from anybody and take the mask off for a moment just to get fresh air. The masks certainly do block molecules (at least some) from traveling through! I think I'll continue primarily using the shield...although on the colder days we have gone out, the second I step outside it becomes a fogged up mess. I need some windshield wipers attached to it.
  6. So the "much less snowfall than normal" zone will get 1 inch compared to the normal 5 inches?
  7. I agree. But, there have been several years (ex. 11-12) that are similar to this year where Novembers were terribly warm and it just stayed that way through the winter.
  8. My community here has been put in the yellow as well. Our staff meeting will be an interesting one tomorrow when we are asked who is willing to get tested. With it being done every week, I can't see any way of anybody avoiding being tested over the next couple weeks.
  9. At least next week we will be closer to normal...biased towards above still...but not 20 to 25 +...at least for now.
  10. It's ridiculous. My students (elementary) have been wearing shorts all Fall. We have the windows and AC's on today. One, who lived in California, said this reminds her of winters there.
  11. My issue with our current climate is that it just seems soooooo easy anymore to break these record highs. It's not like, "Ohhhh...we just barely made it." It's like day after day...or a whole month of records. It's ridiculous.
  12. My first reaction to seeing that from Eric Fisher was, "GAaaaaaaaahhhhhh." But, your perspective on this is great..and you have a great point!
  13. Looks like several inches down in Lowville...check out the live cam (have to scroll down) https://linkinglewiscounty.com/Live-Traffic-Weather-Cam-South-State-Street-Lowville.html @wolfie09, how did Pulaski make out? Was it raining there, or did the wife report snow?
  14. Nice, wolfie. Picked up about an inch here...especially on the vehicles. Local forecast is now saying "snow could be heavy" with "thunder possible" after midnight. We shall see...
  15. ...and I've quickly learned that the bands will sit over Oswego County forever...then shift south and skip over us to hit SW Onondaga County on a NW flow. Pretty much what just happened.
  16. Yeah, I was here last winter too. Trying to find something between Bville and Fulton...Granby area? Fulton itself is "meh" but I like the area just south of there....have looked Northeast in Volney, as they do really well...but not sure I want to commute from there to Bvile.
  17. Kills me...because it shows it looking GREAT as it shifts through here...but it shows it as RAIN. Argh. Always something!
  18. Indeed. On radar it's looking like the new echoes blossoming are moving more on a WNW flow.
  19. Still a slight smattering of snow still surviving in places here. The ridiculous wind has definitely been a detriment to good lake effect going.
  20. About .3 an inch of graupel here overnight in Northern Onondaga. Kept watching it skip right over us. Then, lake effect rain tonight. We're off to a great start! lol
  21. Didn't you just give me a hard time a bit ago about winter being some 50 days away? I just have to strongly remember to keep expectations loooooooooooooow for this winter. Stinks...but I'd rather be pleasantly surprised.
  22. This must be a new webcam. Live from Jamestown. It's not the best quality, but nice for those of us waiting for the first snowfall. The ground looks white there. https://wnynewsnow.com/live/
