  1. Wow, and seeing only 5 to 7 inches of snow UP to this point in December has been bad enough. I can't imagine a whole winter of only getting that much. Look at you. Crushing my weenie dreams first with a weenie tag...and now denying me the hope of even an inch of snow.
  2. The Icon, to me, seems like a model that does "ok" getting a general idea of track...but is awful with specifics.
  3. Good point. I was thinking the same. I would say the odds of us getting at least SOME snow and white on the ground are increasing. Areal coverage across the NE increasing as well.
  4. I hope the first one works out for the 95 crew and the next one does the same for us.
  5. The amount of stress at work and the month and a half of dreary, brown landscape is taking a serious toll on my emotional (and physical) health. Many may not get it, but SNOW really is a rejuvenating, uplifting source for my everyday mood. The brightness factor. The cold, crisp air wakes one up. I miss winter...and definitely need some right now.
  6. I looked... A couple of cutters? You don't say... One for Christmas? lol
  7. LOL! Well...I'll be in Tennessee for the week, so it won't be so bad knowing I am not missing anything up here.
  8. For sure. Whatever snow we do get may not even make it to Christmas. I have been soooo busy at work I haven't even had time to look at Christmas week.
  9. I wish I could move to Worth or the UP and teleport to work. Asking too much?
  10. Hopeful to get an inch or so of scattered lake effect snow showers earlier in the week just to give the wintry appeal just in case that end of the week system finds a way to avoid us. Asking too much?
  11. Going on with my "heavy frost" post from this morning...I got excited because I almost slipped on black ice in the parking lot at work this morning. It was a sheet of ice. Woo wee! Winter came with a-vengeance overnight. Thank goodness we hit the lower 50s today to melt that "winter" away....................................................................................................
  12. Heavy frost on the cars this morning. Woo-wee! Looks like winter...I have declined to discussing frost depths as if I'm a poster on the Mid-Atlantic subforum. My frost is thicker than yours!
  13. One positive, I guess, is that models last weekend weren't really showing anything for this past week, and we managed to get a semi-event in the middle of the week. This seems like a pattern where little disturbances will be seen a couple days before they slip through.
  14. Pathetic when our 2 inches of snow from yesterday mostly melted OVERNIGHT last night. Couldn't even survive 24 hours. Then, today it was the Seattle overcast with drizzle and 40 degrees. Just awful. Blood test from the doctor showed my Vitamin D levels down to 14 ng/mL...guess I've "acclimated" to the Central NY climate.........
  15. The time period between December 19th and 26th is a lock. Why? Because I am going to Tennessee. The one and only snowstorm of the month will happen in that time frame. Lock. it. in.
  16. Wow, looking at local webcams...totally different world here than closer to the city of Syracuse. The ground is completely covered here, while in Syracuse itself there is barely a coating. Syracuse really is a larger UHI than one would think.
  17. Working towards 2 inches here. Biggest snowfall of the year so far. haha
  18. Yup, that sounds like a pretty typical Great Lakes climate. The times when it's awesome living in the Great Lakes is when you do get a good storm or one of those nice lake effect bands...and then you get those constant refreshers every day or couple days. Then the snowpack can build up and it's awesome. But....we need some BLOCKING so that we can get some cold air locked in to provide one of those great patterns. Looking like another winter where that is not going to happen though because most of the indices...SUCK. Usually, the lakes can help us salvage even the worst of patterns though. Syracuse managed to get 50 inches of snow even during the horrid winter of 11-12. That's like 40% of the normal for here (awful) but still more than NYC get in one of their "good" winters.
  19. Every year, I keep thinking the winter patterns couldn't get worse...then the next year comes...
  20. Yup. What WxWatcher said. We are pretty bummed in the Upstate NY forum because November and so far December have SUCKED. We all (or most) on all the forums sort of have expectations of a winter based on where we live...and so far, it's been meh...just like much of this decade. Lake effect...synoptic...clippers...have been lacking. But Great Lakes Cutters have been in abundance over the past several winters. You guys aren't alone. Most of us are weenies. If I ever get a chuckle with your forum, it's when you guys start bantering about an inch vs. 2 inches or when you share frost thicknesses.
  21. Hey...400 to 600 coatings this winter and we could hit average!
  22. Checking on radar, looks like flow is QUICKLY shifting to NW flow...which means I will set right on the edge pretty soon. So maddening how quickly it transitions.
  23. It's funny because BUF had Oswego County as "cloudy" for tonight. Now it is updated to "Cloudy with scattered flurries." It's definitely more than that. Some of the heaviest echoes run right over the county.
  24. Steady snowfall right now that is covering everything up fairly quickly. I would be ecstatic if we got a couple inches through tomorrow. With highs around freezing over the next couple days, it could actually look like winter for a bit! Our two inch snowfall from the other day did survive for a day and a half, but disappeared when it hit the 40s yesterday.
