  1. LOL! The tropics of Upstate. Gah. We've had a horrible theme with all Low pressures being attracted to the Great Lakes (often North) this past decade.
  2. I hope you can get it figured out smoothly. May you have wise doctors and quick, thorough healing.
  3. It looks most of the seasons that had snowfall in the teens up through the New Year did ok for the rest of the winter. Concerning is that....almost half of the winters on this list have been in this century. Is this possible evidence that we are indeed losing December as a winter month, or just a "fluke" in the grand scheme of things? (Note: The list doesn't even include Dec. 2019, when winter basically died mid-way through the month, but November's amounts skewed this.) 2.5 inches in 2015?!? Aye caramba.. 80.3 inches is a marked improvement for that season though.
  4. Interesting on it being precise! I feel like the wind has to be precise just for us to get much here in NW Onondaga. But, then again, I haven't experienced a good clipper pattern or nice, cold pattern around here yet. I am assuming that's when winter truly rocks around here.
  5. Did you happen to see my comment to you the other day? I was asking how winter compares/contrasts in Cazenovia to the Liverpool area (which I believe you lived before?) I had a job possibility in the Truxton area of Cortland county and then the Hamilton area when I was searching (I know Hamilton doesn't do as well snow-wise. I absolutely love Madison County though!
  6. Yes! That has been one of the most difficult parts! It's sooooo dark and cloudy....AND been brown much of the time. A snowy, bright landscape is such a mood lifter for me.
  7. Nice! Your elevation is definitely helping you out there. Looking more "meh" here in the Lowlands.
  8. Another day of snizzly, drizzly junk today. We went outside today for recess and my kiddos were complaining about how "cold" it was. It was "cold" because it's that damp, yuckiness. There are still snow piles everywhere, so I had to say, "Snow is off limits." Otherwise you have five kiddos crying because somebody threw ice balls at them.
  9. Wow, what a boring winter. Some posters on other subs, at least yesterday, were talking about some possibilities before "the pattern becomes unfavorable." Ummm, when has it BEEN favorable??? Yikes. Perhaps their "unfavorable" could be our "favorable" but I don't see it. Snizzle this evening added another light dusting to my car...only 998 more to average.
  10. Indeed. I've been getting bursts of snow from showers that are just randomly forming. Hoping for some lake-enhanced snowfall...not sure it will happen.
  11. I'm only FOUR inches ahead of you guys up here in the Syracuse area. This winter has been atrocious here.
  12. Radar looks so odd. With these different waves and impulses, there's bands moving from the south to north, some moving from SW to NE, now they're starting to move from NW to SE...all different directions!
  13. I think I may look at homes in the next couple years in the Morrisville-Cazenovia-Lafayette/Tully zone. I believe the average snowfall for this corridor is still 125 inches? Even if it's not in the primary lake effect zone, that area seems to benefit from Orographic lift and colder temperatures during mild winters like this one. How do you feel it compares to Liverpool/Bayberry area?
  14. Per usual, Northwestern Onondaga county will get the least synoptic snow in the county. Under an inch. I'd imagine if it was a couple degrees colder, much of the area would have 2 inches.
  15. There is the possibility it backbuilds some. We shall see... Still nice big flakes coming down at the moment.
  16. Unfortunately, it looks like it's rushing out of Central NY.
  17. Nice big flakes coming down at a moderate clip now. Looks like some solid banding along the I 81 corridor. If this continues to train, like it looks like it might, we may get a surprise here.
  18. Bahaha...yeah, actually had a nice burst. Just a light dusting, but looks like some solid bands are forming over the Eastern Finger Lakes. The ice layer we have from Friday night may actually help out today.
  19. Hey, every subforum"s gotta have its own Damage in Tolland and Ji....
  20. Not me. I have to make a choice to keep on living and not waste my life waiting on things to happen or checking radar. As you all have pointed out, I've let the weather get the best of me. I have no control over the weather, but do over my attitude. Less watching runs...and more being content with what I have and hopefully being pleasantly surprised by winter weather over the next couple weeks.
  21. @rochesterdave, did you see the pic I posted just above yours? Hmmm, which one do you think is more likely this year??? lol The Canadians showed us getting lots of snow as of 2 days ago...now we get like half an inch. Check out this winner:
  22. Makes sense. The data I was looking at started in 1949 (?) when the airport site moved to where it is now.
