  1. Not sure who measured in Bville, but we definitely got more than 3 inches. Whatever..not a big deal. The New England crew has 40 pages just for today's system! It's been a bad winter... lol
  2. Was perusing the Central PA sub and saw this beauty of a clown map. Lock it in for 7 days?????
  3. It dumped for a couple hours during the early afternoon...most of us in this area picked up about 4 or so inches during that. Then the dreaded dry slot moved through, and since then, it's been snow showery with sleet and grainy snow mixed in.
  4. Temps are in the mid 30s across the Southern Finger Lakes, with 35 in Elmira and 36 in Dansville. 10 degrees colder here not too far away. Crazy how this disorganized Low pushed so well against the High Pressure. These sure are different days.
  5. For sure! I worked a job for a while that involved cleaning snow off cars and around them in the resident parking lot. The leaf blower made the job so much easier for the fluff events...as long as the wind wasn't blowing! For sure. You were right on with your call. I sensed it might be a "bust" as I observed reports of the dry slots out in the midwest and watched the precip zooming northward. It went even farther north than my pessimistic call! lol
  6. So, is any precip going to move due east like the models were showing, or are we stuck watching it continue to reform over the S. Tug and North Country? That's been another standard with these dying synoptic systems this season. The echoes move all over the place in different random directions...and you sit here wondering which one is going to hit you.
  7. It went from whiffing us to the south to just about whiffing us to the north. lol
  8. Yep, the steady snow continues to reform just to the north in Oswego county and Northern Oneida county. They seem to be the winners in every event this year. Barely any "wrap-around" here.
  9. On radar the band has exited here, but it's still snowing moderately, albeit much smaller flakes and the sky has brightened again. Let's keep reforming this! Visibility has definitely been LOW here this afternoon with all the wind accompanying the snow.
  10. Yeah, especially if we can more to rotate through this evening. Odd way of getting there. All of our snowfall this season (except for the one that slammed BGM) have come in heavy, 1 to 2 inch per hour bands.
  11. Yeah, this second batch is dumping just as much as the first one. I think I will make it past the 4 inch mark before it ends. One good thing is that band over Niagara is starting to the pivot to the south and east. Hopefully that means we've reached the northern extent of things and we'll start seeing some fill-in with eastward movement.
  12. Had a short period of light rice-snow and maybe some sleet/graupel mixed in...but now back to big flakes coming down heavily in this next batch.
  13. Wow, even I underestimated how far North the main band would get. Well past Lake Ontario! Lol
  14. That last band dumped for about an hour here. Between 3 and 4 inches on the day with light snow now. Sky is brightening up. Temps still in the mid 20s and snow is fluff.
  15. Some of the Oswego County and Northern/Western Onondaga county schools are dismissing early. It's probably because we're in the zone to get around 6 inches this afternoon. But I'm not so sure about that...lol. Looks like precip may be trying to backbuild at present, but it might be too late. Currently dumping snow, but about to end.
  16. Looks like I called it. Moving way up to Lake Ontario. We might have an inch and a half and about to shut off. Schools are shutting down early here because of the "snowstorm" this afternoon. So, now everybody is driving during the height of this band, when it's going to be clear the rest of the afternoon. So dumb. Another synoptic fail?
  17. The models, including the HRRR, actually look great for here...but I just don't see it on radar.
  18. Of course the cutoff is moving north quickly. Never fails.
  19. Cold air is deeper over Central NY than Western NY, so that may help us out as well. We shall see. Many of the 12Z runs still look good for this area.
  20. Looks like it's snowing on north side of downtown Buffalo. https://buffalowebcam.com/live-webcams/buffalo-ny-elmwood-ave-mr-pizza
  21. Yup. Precip is moving straight north/north northeast...not a good sign. We want it moving west to east. I think the main band will move up to the middle Lake Ontario and then the system will move east...with most of us getting the big screw. Not trying to be "negative"...but seen this song and dance way too many times.
  22. I mentioned it yesterday. The dry slot ALWAYS goes farther north than forecasted. So annoying.
