  1. Well, I suppose if we get several inches of sleet it will be harder to melt.
  2. Hopefully we can top it off with a good lake effect band tomorrow night. BGM mentioned headlines might be needed for that. That's going to be a close one...I think either hugging the Onon./Oswego county line or sitting just north of it over you and CNY. Obviously I am hoping for the more southern option.
  3. Looks like some nice fluffers coming down in Buffalo right now. Precip. shield looks to be developing across Western NY.
  4. Edited for IMBYism... Topping 3" of snow from synoptic systems in SYR is no easy thing.
  5. Well, there you go. We've reached a point where in the Eastern Finger Lakes, the Rgem has Kuchera at lower than 10:1. Signs of sleet?
  6. I think he's saying it's dead to him UNTIL it's actually falling. Way too many crash and burns this winter! lol
  7. BGM doesn't seem to be backing off...their new warning says 7-11 inches. Perhaps they are thinking higher ratios? I defaulted to the 10:1 once I saw that mix line getting closer and closer.
  8. I'm confused here. You're comparing two different hours from the 18Z runs. Looking at snowfall maps from 18Z, you certainly wouldn't think it went SE at all. If anything, went NW...again!
  9. I might even have to cut my totals for tonight back to 3 to 6 inches for Syracuse. It would match our 3 to 4 inchers we've been getting.
  10. I wonder if we'll be able to get a purely synoptic snowfall of over 5 or 6 inches this season.
  11. Since the GHD storm, Syracuse has had about 3 inches of total snowfall. Rough winter. Still up in the air on what this week will bring.
  12. Down in Tennessee, where it was supposed to be snow, they are getting a sleet storm instead. Upstream story of what's to come? I had to laugh because I was watching their live reporter, the meteorologist standing there reporting...she says, "Of all my years as a met, I have never seen this much sleet." (Sticks her hand down into about a half inch of sleet.) "We have about 3 inches of sleet on the sidewalk here that I'm standing on." (Meanwhile, the several inches of GRASS behind her waves to the camera...)
  13. Maybe the models were including the "couple inches" we were supposed to get today?
  14. Nah...if it's in Philly, then it will be suppressed. We want it...hmmm...doesn't seem like anywhere works...lol
  15. You guys in Buffalo and Rochester are going to be fine. This is going to keep coming north and west enough to make me do that...you know...what I said the other day... Anybody else need one?
  16. It's like whatever is in Canada does absolutely nothing to keep these storms from charging north anymore. If a high does lock in up there, it pushes it out to sea. There's no cooperation between the streams and players.
  17. Sorry, guys. As much as I wanted to NOT be right..this winter has just been a wreck. There's no point in looking at any of the models, other than to say a system will be hundreds of miles north and west than what you think this year.
