  1. Enjoy your awesome event, Western NY friends! Time for me to check out for a bit.
  2. Truth. Speaking of ends...I have NEVER looked forward to the end of winter..until this year. One can only take so many disappointments. Want to go in on a shack in Worth?
  3. I think the stronger winds are going to end it for most near the lakes... You can see on radar everything pushing inland. Hence the southern Finger Lakes getting it.
  4. How does it feel when the BGM region outdoes you in both Synoptic AND lake effect?
  5. I am sitting here trying to figure out how to talk my wife into it.... Lol I guess for now I just hope for a rocking March or a better winter next year!
  6. Oh come on now. You know we will get a slushy coating on Monday that will melt by 9am on 40 degree southerly winds. I am sure we have 320 dustings to go. Don't give up now. There is still time to get to a few feet below average! On another note, thanks for sharing the beautiful pics of real winter, @BuffaloWeather!
  7. Ha! Struggling with remorse in NOT taking that job in Springville!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Hey, you may doubt, but I think there is some merit to it. They rock with open water. The 'Cuse relies on Synoptic systems to our East to provide the goods on the backside. If we continue the pattern of not many coastal systems, especially off New England....with the potential for Lake Erie to not freeze over in more years to come...I could see Buffalo potentially averaging more than Syracuse. I almost typed it could take some years for that, but the climate seems to be making some pretty quick shifts. Not sure if it's just a temporary blip or some more substantial yet.
  9. Precip has shut off here, radar shows nada, and models show the banding over the Finger Lakes. Might be done here in the Syracuse region. This winter is proof that with even a little open water, Buffalo IS and would be KING over Syracuse most years.
  10. About 4 inches. Looks beautiful. So, about 4"/12 hour rates. Almost to Buffalo's rates. Nickels and dimes, dibs and dabs, puppies and kittens
  11. Wow. The heaviest banding has still managed to go up through Oswego county. haha. Hopefully that slowly tracks southward through Saturday.
  12. Really coming down here! A couple inches down. Time to go for my late-night Jebwalk pretty soon.
  13. I think you two have a weather bromance going on here.
  14. Snowing pretty nicely now as it looks like a narrow band is starting to set up.
  15. Geez. They've been rocking the lake effect this year.
  16. I would love to see that green all consolidate and turn into one massive area of snow akin to a lake enhanced event and slam the whole county.
  17. Yeah, it may JUST miss to the SW with me in between the 2 areas of green.
  18. Looks like there is a nice little band forming over Eastern Wayne/Northern Cayuga headed this way:
  19. I believe it's common for the band to end up farther north than models are projecting? But that's when there is a more westerly component to a WNW flow. I have noticed during my short time here that if there is more of a Northerly component to the WNW flow, the best snows set up JUST west of Bville to Liverpool and we get snow showers. Who knows...with my limited experience of Lake Effect snow around here, I guess I'll see how this one plays out.
  20. Why would Oswego county be under anything? Only a few inches forecasted? Are those returns on radar dropping good snow there? With your experience of these events, is this going to be a general widespread light lake effect snow event with the heavier band embedded in it, or it going to be widespread at first, and then everything disappears except for the one solid band?
  21. Checked it out. Looks like it happened with a retrograding low over Quebec. We need a coastal storm to actually make it far enough north and retrograde though! Oh, and some Arctic air! @Syrmax and @LakeEffectKing, do you guys know how well the Bayberry, Bville, Clay area did with this one? I saw Syracuse got 40 to 60 inches, but then Phoenix got 22 inches.
