  1. Yes, same here! The roads were not good here today, even after work at 4 in the afternoon. Main roads were ok at 4, but side streets and neighborhoods were very slushy and slippery.
  2. Really coming down again! What a pleasant day of overachieving. Even though it's our normal 4 to 5 inches, it's so nice to over-achieve (compared to the 1 to 2 inches they were calling for). SWS issued by BGM for a "snow squall" moving through.
  3. Snowing hard enough here that even with temps slightly above freezing, it's recovering things. I will say that one of my favorite things about late winter and early spring snows are that you can get some pretty impressive snowfall rates. Not that this is that impressive, but it reminded me of some of the awesome convective-type synoptic snow squalls/bursts I have seen in this time period.
  4. Good point about it being nice not having a thaw. I personally give it a D (up to now) because of the 2.5 month wait to actually get winter...that was painful. I also can't get past the many busts this particular area had from the synoptic storms, and to a degree, the lake effect. We had a couple really nice lake bands, but they were so short in duration, and the next day it would warm up and melt much of it. It's been a good hit of winter for many places in the country...just not really here in CNY. We're at about 50% of normal. The past month of solid, deep snowpack keeps it from being in the F zone. That said, I just got back from a beautiful walk snapping pictures of the newly snow-laden trees and snow depth. Perhaps I will share a few on here later. It was so nice and peaceful. Big fluffers coming down again.
  5. Hey, maybe @BuffaloWeather just got the timing off and we will now get our....wait for it...... BACK-TO-BACK "MAJOR" SNOWSTORMS!
  6. For sure! I agree. Your pics look like it's pretty deep there. Now Rochester and Syracuse might dance back and forth on who has higher season snow totals.
  7. Wow, it looks like Rochester really got gipped on this one! I was looking at the obs and it looks like you maybe had an hour or 2 of light-ish snow?
  8. Looks great, doesn't it??!? The trees are all decked in a thick layer. I can get a small glimpse of one of the main roads here in Bville from my office and it still looks messy and slushy. The synoptic snow can definitely survive the influences of increased sunlight better than the lake effect fluff! Still snowing moderately here with backbuilding continuing.
  9. Yeah, it looked like it was about to stop here, and picked up again. Looks like 4 inches. Nothing plowed...I guess because there's no advisory? Beautiful outside!!!!!! I had suspected yesterday that we might overperform today, but didn't want to jinx it. lol
  10. Moderate to heavy snow here. This reminds me of the event at the end of March last year.
  11. The 00Z runs in general are looking a bit snowier for Central NY Monday through Wednesday. 3 to 6 inches...lowest in lower elevations and with milder temps, it may melt in between each bout...but still, looking better!
  12. Good reference in showing the lack of snow off Lake Ontario this season. First one is up through Feb. 15th...second one through yesterday. Rochester might have surpassed Syracuse as of yesterday? (Just not a good season.)
  13. Sorry to hear that. Yeah, there are many odd situations related to it. I really think it went through my building last winter and in March. Barely anybody has gotten it and I had a colleague last Spring who tested for the antibodies and she had them...so she was exposed at some point. I have O- blood, which I have read may have some special antibodies affiliated with it in protecting one from the virus. Very interesting stuff! (sorry everybody for the off-topic comment).
  14. That's how I feel when I have to wear a mask and try playing running games with the kiddos at work. lol (Oh, and definitely not as fit as you! haha)
  15. Yikes. So generally a lackluster decade in comparison to other ones. Perhaps we can do a repeat and get a 40 inch storm in March?
  16. The models showing that stripe of snow going across Canada to the north..locking cold air in to the north...is a clear sign of a +AO.
  17. I sure hope so! Was doing a little bit of research and found this (hopefully this doesn't become a decade "worse" than the 60s) Syracuse Season totals (60% winters less than 100 inches). The 4 other winters bring the average for that decade to 101 inches. Only 1 (perhaps 2) was a little bit above normal. 1960-1961 130.5 1961-1962 77.3 1962-1963 116.6 1963-1964 83.8 1964-1965 97.3 1965-1966 118.8 1966-1967 83.0 1967-1968 81.2 1968-1969 97.9 1969-1970 125.5
  18. Yup. When we can't get anything to line up for us, time to wave the flag. We can't seem to have the cold air when the track moves closer. PA has been doing it and other places in the country...but here? Nope. Perhaps that will change and we can get some surprises. But not holding my breath.
  19. I WILL START IT!!!! Who votes for me??? .............
  20. Looks like there's some additional moisture moving in over Northern Lake Ontario right now. That'll probably give some additional boost.
  21. Enjoy! I bet it's awesome. You've been rocking this winter.
  22. Are you guys sure this area gets 100+ winters??? My, what a boring pair of winters. I think almost every day this month it's been sunny while Buffalowx and Dave post snowy pics of their cities...and this WITH NW winds...
