  1. Better hope we don't get any deep freezes after this weekend. With the warm Spring we've had, 70s/80s this weekend, and rain on Sunday, the green-up is going to be on Turbo speed. Things are quickly budding in the Syracuse sizzler.
  2. Warmer than Miami!? It's unreal how easily Upstate New York warms up. Seems like the Great Lakes states are really being affected by whatever is going on with this warming going on. Syracuse yet again broke a record high. I should keep track of all the record warmth that's occurred around here in the past two years. Trying to show those retrograding lows that we waited ALL winter to see. That'll stink if it happens now in Mid April.
  3. Nah, looking like 50s and 60s this week. If anything, it looks above normal. The new temperature normal is 10 months of above what was once normal and 2 months slightly below.
  4. I know I'm not the most positive person, but I do appreciate your optimism. I think you're one of the youngest in our group, so you definitely still have some of that youthful optimism (hopefully yours doesn't fade as you get older.) I feel like as I near 40, my skepticism and disappointments with the human race have clouded the idealism I once had. Some of that is cautious wisdom though, as it keeps me balanced and helps to temper unrealistic expectations I have. Anyways, I'm rambling.... The point is...I appreciate your positive energy. As far as traveling, I have very similar goals as you! New Zealand is my number 1 place! As I've visited my family this week, my dad and I have been discussing Switzerland and going there. I also really would like to go to Australia, as I have worked with several Aussies over the years and JUST LOVE them. Jerusalem/Israel is also top on my list, as I am very interested in the Biblical history. I am also hoping we will be able to reschedule our Alaska Cruise and Northwest US/Yellowstone trip for next summer.
  5. Been visiting my family in the Danville area this week....so nice after several cancellations this past year because of "possible" exposures. I've been going on many walks for my dad and thought about what you guys have been saying...every day it's been like WIND, WINDY, GUSTY! It seems relentless. Had a coating of snow yesterday morning and then more wind. haha
  6. Don't push it. Let's be just a little risky and say next year will be "above this year's normal" in snowfall.
  7. Ha! That follows the synoptic track of the last 5 months...with the typical ROC to SYR dusting to one inch of puke. This week's system dropped the usual 2020-21 several inches south of Syr to BGM to the Catskills to Northeast PA. There was a coating here where I'm at on the edge of NE PA. The news was showing much of the Scranton region covered in a couple inches.
  8. Unfortunately, I think some of them would. An increasing amount of human beings are losing their ability to have human decency and don't give a crap about others or how they treat them.
  9. The only things guaranteed in Syracuse are 15 degree temperature rises in an hour or two after a Southerly wind kicks in.
  10. lol.... not just the models....the pattern and tracks have SUCKED.. Now I am so glad I wasn't in Syracuse this week just to see another huge letdown. I might actually see more snow here in PA. lol
  11. New York continues to make itself one of the most uninhabitable, unfriendly states to live in in this country. From taxes to screwing over the working class to state government control...there isn't much freedom left in this state. If I grew up a Native New Yorker, I would be so saddened with the state I live in. It's a pretty high likelihood my wife and I will not call this state our home by the time if/when we make it to retirement age.
  12. It will be back in a few days. Daffodils in full bloom, forsythia blooming, and trees budding down here at my parents' house in the Upper Susquehanna valley area of PA.
  13. Well, at least I might get to see what I've become accustomed to this winter while here in PA. 1 to 3 inches of snow.
  14. Seriously ticks me off that one of the best synoptic systems this season for Central NY seems to be hitting when I am in PA...where they ALL hit for 3 months straight.... Lol.... can't win.
  15. Well, I'm in Pennsylvania for the week....so you guys have that going for you.
  16. I will down in Pennsylvania all next week. Biggest snowstorm of the season coming to Upstate NY...
  17. Yeah, the way it affects random people in so many random ways makes it anxiety-inducing. Still so much up in the air. I am in a personal dilemma of continuing to risk possible exposure to it or getting the vaccine. I am also anxious about getting the vaccine (for personal reasons of my own).
  18. Great Question. BGM NWS posted it on their social media accounts. I love the geographical features they point out. Answers: 1) Frozen Oneida Lake2) Otisco Lake3) Cazenovia Lake4) Canadarago Lake5) Whitney Point Reservoir6) Snow cover across the northern Poconos7) Lake Wallenpaupack8) Snow cover in the Catskill 9) One lonely cloud 10) Snow cover across the Tug Hill Plateau region Cool find on Bristol!
  19. Bummer! Sorry to read that you're so sick. Kudos to you on living your life off of Facebook. As I get older, the less I feel the need to advertise my life on Facebook and provide ammunition in any form for people to judge, bicker, or be offended. I keep it to light-hearted, humorous thoughts, if that. I actually had people messaging me to make sure I was "alright" because I'd been so "silent" on FB this year.
  20. This beautiful image from today shows the suckiness of the Lake plain and lower elevations for snow lovers.
  21. You surely mean the "variant that originated from somewhere south of the Equator" when you say that, correct? P.S. I was referring to the Brazilian reference. lol The Spanish Flu may have come from some place on the other side of the Atlantic from the U.S.
  22. Be careful including "Brazilian" in that reference. The crybabies in the Lakes/Ohio Valley sub will have your head. I understand calling it the "China Virus" is not productive or positive at all....but NOT every event that happens in our nation is due to hatred towards a "certain group" of people. Some of it is just HATRED IN GENERAL. ALL involved are victims, regardless of their lifestyle, race, or choices. Sometimes it is those things...sometimes not.
  23. My gosh, so many uptight, unpleasant personalities on many of the other forums in here lately. No wonder I stick to mostly our sub and don't even get on social media much these days.
  24. I was joking. Sorry it didn't come across that way. Thanks for the info. though.
  25. So will they be watching for every single person to do this (zip the lip) before a natural scream-provoking ride?
