  1. I'm skeptical...but if the tempering of the heat that has occurred during July continues through August and September, maybe...
  2. Haha! That one on the northern edge of Bville is ALWAYS warmest...they must use the same sensor SYR uses. Bville has some pretty open South-facing hills, so it wouldn't surprise me if some of that affects it. The 2 Bville stations closest to me are reading 79 and 80 currently. Who knows... I think some of it is Mother Nature trolling me.
  3. These seem like such the standard maps anymore... especially as we get into Fall. I see Syracuse is doing it's normal run at trying to be hotter than most on the east coast today. This time Buffalo and Niagara Falls are joining along. I really am shocked at how many days this summer have been hotter here than in the deep south. Does latitude matter anymore?
  4. A couple of weeks from today, average overnight lows start dropping more. I am more excited about that. Enjoy that cold pool, @Syrmax...
  5. Yes! I'd also be happy if we didn't reach 90 again for the rest of the warm season. But, this is Syracuse here...... And you know we'll get the annual 90 degree heat wave for 5 days in September. lol
  6. We're still waiting to get that information. As of my boss's most recent all-staff message, officials are still determining those things and we are not required to wear masks. However, it is recommended.
  7. We don't watch it either. If I'm interested or curious, I research it for myself...and check multiple sources! I like to peruse through things, and then try to find the ACTUAL truth and facts.
  8. Based on my recent post, here is some interesting information. The graph shows how it began dropping towards the end of July...and then the article I shared discusses how they're "baffled by the surprise drop" in reported infected. Um, that's not baffling to me. It's a good sign and shows that people are building immunities. This will be a cycle of ups and downs over the months to come...but as humans are exposed, Covid's impact will be minimalized...unless the politicians and media continue to draw it out. Which, is the time period we are in now, where they're grasping at straws. Surprise dip in UK COVID cases baffles researchers (nature.com)
  9. A friend is on a "Covid Task force" for his employer and community. They have been studying trends with how upticks in Covid have occurred across the world. They've been using England as a focal point. Information he passed along is that we are a few weeks behind England. They had an uptick several weeks ago like the one we're currently having, and then it drastically dropped off. His group thinks the same thing will happen here in the U.S. As mentioned by others, the different variants may be more contagious, but they're weaker than the original.
  10. Time to google her corporate sponsors, political relations, who she's made promises to, etc...
  11. Good points. So, we continue to try and hold off the inevitable with vaccines? Natural immunity the answer? My wife got ticked at me the other day when I mentioned this being an example of the earth nearing its human carrying capacity - A natural way of stabilizing the human population. I don't mean for that to come across as lacking compassion. (Conspiracy theory: The Chinese are all about Human Population Control....)
  12. I think there is probably a good chunk of the population similar to me that is just waiting and being cautious about the vaccine. I really am not against getting it...but I'm hesitant about putting something in my body that is supposed to help my body fight something that we still don't even understand how it and the variants work. If the vaccine is helping people to survive and not get sick, then great and I am happy for them. But not all human bodies and immune systems respond the same way to factors. (Sorry, I know you know this...you're a science guy.) I am not really a crowds guy anyways...so avoiding people and the "nightlife" isn't hard for me at all...lol. So, I will continue to try and respect others' space and wait it out. I also am not going to hide in a cave either. All in moderation...and consideration. All that to say... I could see many more getting vaccinated once more answers and results come to light.
  13. Cuomo: "First, I want you to know directly from me that I never touched anyone inappropriately or made inappropriate sexual advances. I am 63 years old. I have lived my entire adult life in public view. That is just not who I am, and that's not who I have ever been." So, I guess if somebody is 63 years old and has lived in the public spotlight their entire adult life, it means they would never do such things behind closed doors? Oh, come on, Cuomo. You've been caught. Hopefully this is just the start of cleaning out all the crooked, no-integrity politicians we have on all sides of the aisle. I know it would be tough to find replacements that aren't guilty of these things (which is so sad) but our leaders should be people of utmost character.
  14. Bingo. You have to choose what you logically believe is best for you and your family... at least while you still have that freedom. One can make choices for him/herself while also being thoughtful to others. Unfortunately, in a selfish world, you can try and force others to think about the "greater good"...but that never works out. We have history that reveals that.
  15. Yep, and still refusing to resign. Of course the media circus turns it into an us vs. them thing... no, this is not a matter of Republican vs. Democrat. It's about integrity. Where are the democrats that "should be" screaming for "women's rights" for these women?
  16. I find it disturbing that New York City is requiring proof of vaccination soon to enter buildings and that the mayor is doing this as a tactic to force citizens to be vaccinated. As I've said before, the vaccination hasn't even been APPROVED yet! These back-handed ways and tactics of our current administration to take freedoms away are maddening. "Hand me your papers!" I am absolutely disgusted with the manipulation and using of Covid to enhance political propaganda. So much CRAP being thrown around, you don't know what to believe anymore...other than when things are being forced and driven over and over and over again...it makes one take pause and try and figure out what is actually going on.
  17. I think your smoking habit gets in the way of you tasting the quality of Aldi products.
  18. Yes, I LOVE Aldis. They know how to run a business.
  19. Interesting! Our local Tops are so expensive...and customer service? A joke.
  20. YES. I mentioned this the other day. The rationale behind, "let's get this vaccine that hasn't even been well studied yet into our bodies" seems to go against the logic we are taught in Science and health classes...as well as, well, common sense. Doesn't mean I'm "anti-vax" or as the horribly unprofessional PA I saw a few weeks ago, "I'm not a redneck who refuses to get it." Soooo many contradictions these days...
  21. My "doctor" (really the guy is an obnoxious PA) berated me and basically told me I was dumb because I choose to wait until it's actually approved and to see what effects come of this "savior" vaccination. I am not against vaccination, per se... I am just choosing what I think is a best option while also continuing to try and be wise about sharing public space with others.
  22. Oh, yes. Central and Western New Yorkers are loyal to Wegman's. I find them expensive, but their food quality is EXCELLENT. They also have a great international food section AND Gluten Free aisle(s)! Stay away from Tops. Lol. I love Aldi...but also like the support for "local" Rochester-based Wegmans.
  23. Congrats! Cicero will, with very high probability, get more lake effect than both those places. Also, during the winter, you can really tell the difference between snow amounts and it being a bit cooler in the northern part of the county, as snow depth is almost always deeper than the city. Going from Syracuse to Bville/northern burbs, the snow is less slushy and affected by warmth less. During warm spells, the snow in the Cuse melts much faster. I have noticed that the northern burbs often get some freezing rain/sleet at some point that helps to retain snowpack. In a warm winter, you will definitely see ground/grass for periods of time. This will happen MUCH LESS than NYC/Long Island though. It is entirely possible to go a month plus with the ground totally covered and building a snowpack of 1 to 2.5 feet. In a great winter (which have been rare lately) lake effect belts can go from November to March/April of complete snow cover. I hope we get that again soon. Looking forward to reading your reports soon. There is a group of us Northern Onondaga/Southern Oswego county guys on here.
