  1. The Southerly wind kicked in, putting Syracuse 6 degrees warmer than the forecasted high and yet again making it the hottest location in the state at 83 degrees today.
  2. A low pressure going west of Syracuse? A precursor to winter?
  3. We are certainly at a crossroads of freedoms and limiting those that infringe upon the health and safety of others, aren't we? What freedoms do we sacrifice, limit, or allow to continue? I think Covid has brought much of this to the forefront.
  4. Oh, I agree. I'm not too concerned about whatever people are smoking at the fair... it's about the disregard and lack of courtesy during a time when people are amped up and anxious about sharing airspace with others. If we are going to push masks, I think it's logical to push not smoking and not exhaling your molecules all over others in public. Or is it a double standard?
  5. Biden is an incompetent fool of a president. Such an embarrassment and disgrace he and his administration are to this country. My comments have nothing to do with our previous president(s). Biden had a job to do based on what has been happening throughout this SUMMER of his presidency. He and his administration disregarded and ignored warnings and obvious/clear happenings of what the Taliban was doing. Then, he just wussies us out of there... Grrrrr...
  6. With how liberal you are on things, it surprises me that you're dismissing such a possibilty. If you push for mask wearing because we can spread germs through breathing, I think exhaling with a little force out of the lungs could spread it as well. Which continues my point that everything is a contradiction anymore and people will just push for their "point" because it is what they "want" regardless of others or actual sensibility.
  7. So, during a time when Covid is of great concern, and the government can seemingly place random restrictions on people, it makes total sense (sarcasm) to be allowing people to smoke in a very crowded area. Sure, spread your Covid germs on molecules you exhale out of your mouth. NOTHING makes sense these days.
  8. So, Rochester gained and lost people over the past couple decades...the end. Soooo, how about the winter forecast.....
  9. Delta and Tim, just a friendly reminder...this isn't the "banter" thread. (P.S. Keep it kind... there's enough toxicity in the world.)
  10. Oh my gooooooooooosh. Just. Let. It. End. Faaaaaaaaall, please. End of August...not end of October.
  11. No surprise...I agree with both of you. Lol Today will be day 16 of stupid Syracuse hitting the 90s and having this awful soup weather. The sauna of New York state... Some relief (albeit temporary) this weekend!
  12. I am in West Michigan this week. Was at an outdoor concert when the storms hit. They keep reforming. Very impressive clouds and cloud to ground lightning. Sat in the car for an hour and they have officially cancelled. Bummer!
  13. Syracuse, per usual, still managing to be hotter than every other city in New York state today...
  14. I'm back in Michigan visiting all of our friends and celebrating my 40th birthday (time goes sooo fast). Sorry (not sorry) for ruining your sizzle. You reported a cool breeze by your pool? I see my ice cubes are working...
  15. Hey...if the aliens spray us with some poisonous gas, those masks will protect us.... right? Win win?
  16. I wish the timing for approval was before I start back at school. Looking like it might coincide with JUST as school starts back up in early September. I feel like waiting for after it is approved gives me more legal rights "just in case" something were to happen as a result of the vaccine.
  17. Yup. My face every time I step outside from June through September...er, October.... November?
  18. The rest of the world needs to put them and North Korea on trial. There's a few others I would add to that list .
  19. Weren't some of you talking "Day After Tomorrow" scenarios recently? Hmmmm...interesting. Study warns of 'irreversible transition' in ocean currents that could rapidly freeze parts of North America (msn.com)
  20. lol.. I was just saying to our guest tonight that any time Cuomo does something stupid, New Yorkers are more free the next day than they've ever been...
  21. I have noticed this as well. July was pretty mask-free around here...but I have noticed more masks on people since last week. Even down in Tennessee, I was a bit surprised to see masks on some people. Media is doing its part in influencing people and perhaps reigniting some fear. I have a friend who is teetering on what to do and panicking about wearing a mask or not because of recent reports.
  22. Hmmm, interesting turn of events. @BuffaloWeather, you had asked me yesterday about upcoming school policies... looks like New York is going to leave it up to local school districts and counties to decide, which actually surprises me. Seems like some are upset because they were hoping for direction from the state (as was promised) and now aren't getting it. I personally think it's wise and doesn't infringe too harshly upon public freedoms. Local officials know best how Covid is affecting their local community. Many of those local officials have been voted in by those citizens to help make these decisions. Locally, Ryan McMahon has done a decent job with coordinating across Onondaga county. (Secretly, I'm curious how much of this is affected by the recent Cuomo news....LOL)
