  1. Compared to Tennessee, I can imagine! It's sort of the known-curse I have that wherever I move warms up and becomes snowless. I am a hardcore cold weather person. We joke that I ruined the winters of CNY because they have been less than spectacular (compared to normal) since I moved here. As a southerner, this probably feels cool to you, but this is well above normal for those of us who are used to what-used-to-be a cooler, northern climate.
  2. Looks like Albany finally questioned their thermometer. I have brought this up a couple of times.
  3. Checked the conditions for subtropical Syracuse and see the $+@-@(**"'#_ SW winds kicked in and the temp immediately skyrocketed 7 degrees in an hour and 14 degrees in the past 2 hours. I am so over this furnace of a city. Lol
  4. Why does this keep happening? The ridge sets up at such a weird angle as well, that it makes it hard to budge.
  5. Agreed. Even a couple of our friends who are HARDCORE anti-vax were questioning/possibly regretting not getting vaxxed after they are STILL sick on day 12. They didn't say it directly, but I could sense in the way they were talking...
  6. ANOTHER friend just admitted to hospital with Covid-pneumonia. This virus/variant is no joke.
  7. Yeah, sometimes it's a noticeable difference, and then others times all the stations in general match up with the airport. (Usually with the furnace SW winds) It's very fickle.
  8. Hey, thanks for asking. She's still in rough shape. She can only get up for a few seconds to do something real quick and then she's out of energy. Heavy coughing, congestion, and headaches. She blew a clump of blood out of her nose this morning. She has been sleeping A LOT. Day 4 of being down. We just found out another friend here was admitted to the hospital with Covid.
  9. So, our highs and lows for the next 2 weeks look to be 10 to 15 degree above average. In the past, you'd think eventually cool air would move in and things would average. But, my gosh, it just seems like relentless warmth and above average anymore these days. So discouraging for cooler weather people like myself.
  10. I could see how my delightful SW winds can serve the same function of keeping us warmer at night. The downsloping.... "scowl"
  11. Ha! Noticed how I am the ONLY ONE questioning the Syracuse high temperatures though....lol You guys have been discussing the abnormal high readings for Buffalo, while it's just been accepted that the Cuse is a furnace.
  12. Oh my! Very scary. We are seeing how density dependent factors like illnesses are taking their toll with an increasing human population.
  13. Seriously. What is the deal with Syracuse? Did they install a mall-sized heating system here recently? Always WARM WARM WARM ABOVE NORMAL bullcrap.
  14. It's such a tough situation. Do we let kids get exposed naturally and build their immune systems up? But then there is risk with that, as kids aren't invincible from serious cases. Many of the kids getting it around here aren't in serious condition from it. But in addition to Covid, the other viruses and bacteria seem to be out with a vengeance as well. We have maaaany students out with influenza, sinus infections, strep throat, etc... in addition to Covid....and lots of allergies this Fall. Then, they can't return to school because there aren't enough places to get tested, and test results are taking a long time to get back because of staff shortages. Onondaga county is finally opening up a test center for school kids and staff to get tested. Our country is such a mess right now.
  15. Yep...school has been a nightmare! This year has been far more frustrating to teach than last year. It's ridiculous. How are students supposed to learn and teachers teach when every day we have different students leaving and maybe one or two returning and then leaving again....it's such chaos. If there was a year out of the 3 school seasons to close down the schools and do virtual...this would be it.
  16. Sorry to hear that, Delta. Maybe it was a "false negative?" I don't know how common those are?
  17. Day 4. We think we were exposed through somebody who tested positive the weekend of the 18th/19th
  18. Oh, gosh...that track...gives me nightmares of pretty much every winter that I've lived here....
  19. She had her first one scheduled for the same evening as my 2nd one. But, she ended up starting her period and was nervous about getting the vaccine during that time.
  20. That looks like a very fun track for possible East Coast storms. It's been quite some time since we've seen those OR Alberta Clippers. My wife and I stayed at an Air BnB just outside Naples. Beautiful area. We loved it. The Grape pies though? Not so much.... lol. Sorry, native Finger Lakers..we were not fans. haha
  21. Thanks so much. I am so thankful for such a caring community of in-person and online friends.
  22. My wife tested positive for Covid, so I won't be going into work for the rest of this week into next. She is miserable out in the living room. So far, she said it's like a very bad head cold, but she's worried about drainage into her lungs. Asthma runs in her family. Hopefully the second vaccine shot I got last Friday, combined with my immune system, will keep me healthy. Covid is such a fascinating thing. Over the past year and a half, there have just been trickling cases in our community with an uptick last November.....but the past couple weeks it has just been a WAVE of Covid here. I'm guessing the Delta variant and it's ability to spread. When your community is under the gun, it just pummels...and it puts it into perspective what you've been watching on the news for months and months about certain areas being hotspots. Baldwinsville is certainly a hotspot right now. It's hard to find families here right now that aren't dealing with it. Half my church is sick. My school I work at is sending kids home left and right. It's just CRAZY right now. By far the WORST I've experienced so far. So, THIS is what they mean when they talk about the dangers of this virus....doctors, urgent cares, hospitals...swamped.
