  1. Forecasted high for tomorrow is 70. I'm still going with my 74 to 75 degree call. We'll hit 70 by 11:30 am.
  2. Temp dropped into the 50s around sunset, then the furnace SW wind kicked in and the temp immediately responded and bounced up several degrees. lol Note: Bville is several degrees cooler than the airport right now and in the upper 50s. Still very mild.
  3. Anybody have any good Fall color? The colors are awful around here this year. Whatever color there is, is very muted. The leaves were pretty much blowing straight off the trees today. With all the green still left, I am hopeful we can still see some vibrant colors the next couple weeks.
  4. You guys are talking about BUF coming in warm at mid 40s, but then again, you've got Sizzlecuse that can't even get below that.
  5. I could see there being graupel showers in many locations of Upstate NY later this weekend and early next week. Tis the season...
  6. Just ridiculous. Syracuse has gotta be one of the biggest victims of Climate Change.
  7. The lake absolutely does no good for us during the summer in keeping us cooler down here, but it keeps us warmer during the cool seasons. Go figure. At least it benefits us with lake effect snowfall.
  8. That's about the best forecast you could get these days for a winter forecast!
  9. Whoop, there it is. Temperature forecast for Wednesday officially in the 70s. Been watching it go up and up each day...I knew it was coming. By the time Wednesday gets here, it'll hit 74-75 degrees here. Doesn't matter about sun angle... latitude.... etc...
  10. We know we've had lots of rain when you start talking about your front yard being a pond. You need to level that thing off. lol
  11. We better get this setup a couple times this winter! I want to be reading about drifts building up in the ditch in your front yard.
  12. Yup, just kills me....knowing how much snow this persistent band could have been....
  13. That isn't the best Heading for a chart. "What" is less than 50 degrees? The low for each day? Considering we haven't had highs anywhere near being that low and I highly doubt Watertown has that many "low highs" that is what I will conclude.
  14. What a winter lover's delight! The average low of -1 for the month is quite impressive!
  15. Well, you have tons of land around you...it's just not yours and you don't have to pay taxes on it. A win?
  16. That month has been talked about on here as a very cold month. I have found many winters though where there was several feet on the ground for several consecutive weeks, like we see in those pictures. Even the past couple of "meh" winters have had some decent snowcover for a bit. But definitely more grass showing for longer periods than what is probably normal for these parts.
  17. Did some snow searching for Baldwinsville and found a couple pictures from February 2015. These pics show more of what I was envisioning for a normal winter here...which I think is the case?
  18. Aw, thanks. I know my frustrations and cynicism can be a downer to some, so I appreciate your remarks. I just had a colleague yesterday say she didn't know how to take my humor at first, but she now loves my dry sense of humor. I get it from my dad... Maybe I'll stay another year or two just to ruin winter for you. Buffalowx and Syrmax will love that for their warm pools...
  19. I would love it! But my wife has made it pretty clear if we move outside of the Syracuse area, it will NOT be another location in New York state. Ha. There are several reasons for that...
  20. Ah, temperature down to 60 degrees now. Can I turn my AC off now? At least until next Wednesday...? lol
  21. P.S. Their maps are often SOOOO off compared to the reports listed. I have noticed that many times. If you were to extend their colors/totals to Syracuse, according to the map, it wouldn't show the 40 to 60 inches that was recorded.
  22. I know here in the northern burbs can do better too. If we end up staying in the area, the zone between here and Fulton is definitely an area we will be looking at. I actually have had that website opened on a tab on my computer for the past week. lol. I've been using it to look at years that have been brought up. Some of the winters mentioned on other subforums have been CRAP here...so not sure what to think.
  23. I have grown to enjoy the "warm season" more, especially since I LOVE plants and gardening. I have always loved the cold seasons better though. They are much more comfortable for me. The thing I hate is how much longer and more extreme the summers are becoming and then extending into my favorite season, Fall, which seems to be disappearing. I also hate living in a place that heats up SO EASILY with the gentlest of breezes or first peak of sunshine. I am truly dumbfounded by the ability of Syracuse to heat up ridiculously fast. It may be a northern city that "supposedly" gets lots of snow, but the temperature climate is quite annoyingly warm for a northern city. We will see about our next move. The wife and I have discussed a few options. She is advancing well in her current job and if we do end up staying, hopefully we can find an affordable home. We also have discussed Garrett County, MD, maybe Canaan, WV, or maybe back to Michigan. When we went back this summer, we realized how much we miss "our Michigan." Lots up in the air....we could very well end up here another year or two...I will just have to accept, as difficult as it may be for me (lol), that Syracuse is a furnace.
