  1. 36 degrees with white rain. @tombo82685, as much as I wish you were right, it's not just an early season issue anymore. The past decade has been plagued by these types of events winter-long in the Great Lakes... especially the past several years. Sure, you expect to get them interspersed with other systems. But we have primarily gotten these Lows that just follow Lake Erie and move to the Northwest of our region... causing conditions like this. The raging Pacific jet as of late hasn't helped. We need something to shake things up. Oh,and I would love a move to a mountain top, but the wife isn't having anything to do with that. Lol How are you guys doing with snow in Western NY?
  2. Lol. My gosh it's so annoying... Syracuse is so infuriating! Maybe we can get a retrograding low or two this winter that actually makes winter Interesting here!
  3. Hanging in the upper 30s here. Wish that colder air in Southern Onondaga would seep on in here. Some mangled flakes mixed with rain. Looking forward to seeing some snow pics, WNY guys.
  4. 40 degrees with light rain. Just not sure if we'll be able to mix or flip to snow. Wondering if that heavier band racing through the Genesee Valley is aiding in changeover...
  5. Getting white in northwest PA. Check out Meadville. https://www.erienewsnow.com/skyview-cameras
  6. That looks good, Wolfie. Could have a bit of staying power.
  7. It's snowing in Cleveland and Erie. Erie was around 40 and now snow. So maybe.... But then, they weren't in the mid 40s (4 degrees above forecasted high) like the Sizzle.
  8. Looks like you Buffalo guys are getting some snow again this morning via webcams. Turned out to be bit of a wintry weekend there. (Late fall... )
  9. Sizzlecuse. Subtropical in summer, and maritime in "cool" seasons. There aren't many other locales across the Great Lakes where warm air floods so far inland from the lake to the extent it does here. Right down Northern Onondaga to Mohawk Valley. The opposite cooling effect doesn't happen in the warm seasons. Truly a maddening place for a cold-weather fan. We took a staff picture outside the other day when it was like 55 degrees and my female colleagues were "soooooo cold." I legit rolled my eyes and joked with them about it being warm. You've got it lucky ladies cuz it's 10 degrees colder everywhere else in the state except Long Island. Perhaps we'll get some white rain.
  10. Looks like slush coming down in Buffalo: https://buffalowebcam.com/live-webcams/buffalo-ny-elmwood-ave-mr-pizza
  11. Welp, we're already above the forecasted high of 45 degrees for Saturday...lol. Good ol' southerly breeze blew in and temp jumped 4 degrees.
  12. That's Allendale, just west of Grand Rapids. The elevation is pretty close to lake level, at around 650 feet. It was snowing pretty hard about an hour ago and the pavement was completely covered. Looks like it's melting now that rates have dropped.
  13. So when you guys get these warm periods, do you have any flowers/plants that rebloom/start budding, or are most of the plants of an adaptation that they just go dormant for good for the winter? I would imagine you might have some deciduous plants that don't lose their vegetation completely even during the winter?
  14. Out where I lived in West Michigan is getting some nice snowfall right now. GVSU Web Cam
  15. The thing is...we think what we're seeing in the modeling this upcoming week is "just a November issue" but it isn't anymore. This is the type of stuff that has continued throughout entire winters lately. There's just NO cold air to work with. Elevation-dependent...ridge popping and pushing storms farther Northwest...any cold air tends to be marginal... We REALLY need things to work "just right" to get good snowfalls...especially with raging Pacific patterns that are never-ending.
  16. Did you see....as soon as the Sizzle Southerly winds kicked in, we torched into the mid 60s overnight. So predictable...
  17. Geesh. I wonder if we'll even see flurries here in the Upstate tropics...
  18. For the little bit it's worth, The Weather Channel updated their winter forecast. Then, check this baby out...anybody notice anything about the map?? (Hint: Even TWC trolls me...)
  19. It looks like it's starting to snow in the higher elevations around you. Spirit Mountain | Live Cams (spiritmt.com)
  20. Sunday through Tuesday might provide a shot for the Sizzle lowlands to get their first real flakes and slushy coating of the season.
  21. True indeed! The MJO has been in such awful states for consecutive winters as well.
  22. This is our new norm because the Pacific Jet is always raging these days...polar Vortex loves to pop up just as we enter winter...the northern Atlantic is torching...the southeast ridge works alongside that... All of these just seem to be stuck in repeat mode. But the Pacific...and that Pacific Jet...common issues this century.
