  1. The Upstate NY crew is. We've been burned so many times the past several years relative to average... we're even in discussion of how we are the new Mid-Atlantic. Lol When you average 30 inches of snow each month of the winter, and many months as of recent have consisted of dustings...it makes it seem worse than D..C.
  2. I suppose you can all make the short drive to what will be the Orlando of Upstate and go swimming in Syrmax's pool in January.
  3. I will be at my parents in Danville the entire week between Christmas and New Year's, so hoping there is something wintry in the state to discuss.
  4. Yes! The tone across ALL of the subforums here is frustration and disappointment with this (what feels like) never-ending crap regine we've found ourselves in...and the fact that we all have memories of this from Winters as of late. (Many of you in PA did alright compared to average last winter...but not up here.)
  5. Checking out webcams across New York state, it looks like mostly only the Adirondack region was the only place that got good snow. Even places around the Southern Tug are showing grass poking through the snow. Across Western and Central NY it's little patchy dustings.
  6. Yeah, I know it's 384...but I was moreso referencing seeing that warmth during what many are saying is our solid winter pattern starting around New Year's. Getting pushed back again?
  7. All I could see was that STUPID GREEN covering our areas during what is supposed to be our "Real Winter Pattern." I imagine it would come after this, but still.....
  8. Lol. We already know what the outcome will be even if it showed a foot of snow. In all seriousness though, if we can get the blocking better situated, I could see this coming farther south and perhaps under. It would probably get shredded...but I would rather that than another stupid cutter.
  9. Sorry, I deleted my post because I felt it unnecessary to start up anything, but it looks like you responded back before I got it down.
  10. Did you intentionally post the frame that shows the precip melting as it hits the sauna of Sizzle? Lol... Forget Newark...we are the D.C. of Upstate NY.
  11. South by hundreds and hundreds of miles...or do we hope for it to go soooooo far west that it barely affects us. Those have worked for us a few times these past several Winters.
  12. Yup...I am sure we will in this sauna. I swear I saw a forsythia with blooms this week.
  13. The entire Lake Plain of New York....warm lakes aiding in keeping us even warmer. I am guessing overnight lows playing a big part in that.
  14. I'm competing with Chicago on getting the most Traces in a season. Forget the days of Golden Snowball Awards! It's Golden Snow Boogie Award these days, boys!
  15. That's for Upstate NY. Add 5 to 10 degrees and you've got the forecast for Sizzlecuse.
  16. Don't forget the temperature drop to below freezing immediately after the precip cuts off. Dropped to 30. Maybe measure the ice thickness of frozen puddles in the morning?
  17. Hmm, BUF just issued this map...unless we somehow get an inch or two of lake effect snow, this won't be happening for even an "event total."
  18. I honestly don't think Syracuse knows how to get synoptic snow anymore. Or...even a day with the high below average...
  19. Yes. 30 to 70 mph winds from the Southwest combined with living to the north of a high-standing pimple.
  20. We keep saying that "next winter will be better" but we've been saying that for years...and they keep getting worse. lol A dusting that mostly melted this morning..."maybe" another one overnight that will melt the second a ray of sunshine hits it. With the next couple weeks looking meh, this December is toast. Maybe we'll get a couple weeks of winter at the end of April?
  21. Canadian says Merry Grinchmas as well. I need a new hobby.
  22. BGM 2 PM update for next week. A "cold front" still can't drop us to average or give us snowfall. lol .SHORT TERM /MONDAY THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT/... 2 PM Update... High pressure will shift east of the Appalachians on Monday, while a low pressure system near James Bay drags a cold front across the Upper Great Lakes. Monday will be a quiet day with partly to mostly sunny skies and high temperatures near seasonal normals. Some mid and high clouds will increase across northern and western NY late in the day. The cold front over the upper Great Lakes will graze by the area Monday night into Tuesday morning, with the strongest dynamics for lift remaining well to our north. A few brief snow showers will be possible Monday night into Tuesday morning across the Thruway corridor and Mohawk Valley, with some weak lake effect showers lingering a little longer from northern Onondaga County into western Oneida County. Any accumulation will be minimal. While temperatures will drop behind the front on Tuesday, the heart of the colder air will remain deflected well to our north over the upper Saint Lawrence Valley and into far northern New England.
  23. LOL! It really is incredible that several of us have yet to get a synoptic snowfall of more than an inch!
