  1. Buffalo Grove - north looks like sweet spot. Basically northern Cook to southern Lake county, which was also pretty well modeled.
  2. Blowing snow now. Going to be a fight between blowing snow and sun poking through clouds before the lake effect band arrives that hits Alek to the north and Hoosier to the south. Maybe we'll get some flurries in between
  3. Sky brightening up, sun wants to poke through the clouds
  4. Curious to hear obs from @Hoosier? I imagine similar totals to here, ~3"
  5. This is event total, correct? Going to be too high in Chicago proper
  6. I think ultimately the low track was too far north to really let Chicago in on the lake enhancement, hence areas down here largely under 3" and don't think we'll get in on much later today either.
  7. Always ride the best backyard model...Baum method. I posted my thoughts in that other thread but I think temps aloft will be an issue and it won't amount to much.
  8. Ride the GEM. In all honesty I think this is going to be a slop fest and not amount to much, but would love to be pleasantly surprised. Temperatures aloft look like they will be an issue.
  9. The GEM and RGEM were pretty consistent that the heaviest axis of synoptic snows would be into NE Iowa and south central Wisconsin. I discounted it but they were pretty accurate. The 3-year 6" snow drought lives on!
  10. Just went outside. Have probably around 2.5" here and it's very cakey stuff. All trees, signs are plastered. No accumulation on the roads overnight. Going to end up very far below my call here in a somewhat frustrating event but at the very least this should stick around for a bit. Maybe we get something from the weekend to layer on top. LE later looks to favor southern Cook and Lake, IN counties.
  11. RGEM and GEM actually called the axis and location of the main defo pretty well
  12. Definitely having the dry air issues previously alluded to but not super concerned yet. I’d be more concerned if it were 11pm and we still had issues
