I can't believe we have another poster from Franklin Co! Make sure you post in obs threads too!
But yeah, Berkshire has done a great job considering how winter has gone. Saturday was great snow all day.
Hopefully February brings the goods in terms of snow. It is a classic old-school New England mountain and when it is wide open it is super fun!
Wachuesett has more trails (and is fantastic) but B’East has more vertical and glades if we can actually get them open.
B’East folks did a damn fine job making that mountain enjoyable today! Once again, a little rain in the forecast kept folks away but conditions were great through the afternoon.
Pretty fantastic spring conditions at Berkshire East right now. Probably no more than 100 people or so here and it is an absolutely gorgeous sunny day. I think the rain forecast scared a lot of people away.
Berkshire was pretty much closed yesterday so kids lesson was canceled and my buddy was up at Stratton today with morning wind holds and lots of ice.
Hopefully things turn around after next weekend. High dews will not be welcomed though.
It’s ironic because they had the earliest opening ever due to good temperatures in November and a great start to December and now January is the meh’ month. Luckily the Greenfield recreation department ski program will give us a rain check if tomorrow is lousy.
Taking my kid to B'East the next 4 Saturdays for lessons and some turns for me and the wife. Expecting meh' conditions in the rain tomorrow but I'll still get some runs in.
1) Blizzard of 78 (I was 10 and school was cancelled for a week!)
2) April Fool s 97 (Awesomeness!)
3) January 2005 Blizzard (30"+ in Cambridge)
4) October 2011 Snow Storm (Freak storm)
5) Hurricane Irene (Western New England flooding was surreal)
Runner up: Feb 2013
I've had several personal severe weather episodes that have been personally mind blowing but were isolated so I went with the historic stuff.
Worcester Co. was definitely the dividing line for haves and have nots. Big difference in totals from SE to NW.
