You know, I've been thinking about what went wrong with this winter and I think I've found my answer. Two days after that cold blast in December, my neighbor started building a near regulation size skating rink in his back yard. He did a beautiful job: wood boards all the way around, netting behind the hockey goals, lighting so they can skate at night etc. He filled that thing with 3-4" of water and sat back, expecting weeks of pick-up games with his kids and their friends. Sadly, his dreams effed up the winter juju, and the rink has since served as a pool for ducks and geese. Really sad.

Sadly there was a hiker from NY who froze to death that day trying to do MWN.

Smart woman!

I've experienced -30 twice, once at Middlebury VT during January '04 and once in 2016 at Tupper Lake NY. It's pretty effing cold. In the former case, my car wouldn't start after morning swim practice, so I had to walk from the pool to the dining hall. My hair was a block of ice.

The current height of my daffodils exceeds my seasonal snowfall total.

This looks like my chance to finally get some snow. I'll get my power washer out of the basement.

I don't know if it's going to be a permanent addition, but they have a new one called "Pink" that is excellent.

It's pouring. My seasonal rain total is outpacing my snow total by 3 to one at this point. Ridiculous.

The winter of our lives continues. The geese have to be stopped. And I have to stop them.
