  1. I finally got around to power washing my house after a couple years of grime and green stuff had built up on the north side (last summer's dews were chiefly responsible). On the positive side, the house is gleaming like new. On the negative side, I set my ladder down on a yellow jacket nest and now have a lovely complement of angry welts on my calf.
  2. Looks great Steve. And yeah, coyotes are a menace. Most of the outdoor cats in my neighborhood have disappeared in the last few years. I was distressed last week to find a dead fawn in my shed that had one leg missing and another chewed up. I have no idea how it escaped its attackers, but glad it found a quiet place to expire.
  3. Yeah there's that saying that a weed is anything that grows where you don't want it to. That particularly flower (not sure what it is) just happens to like coming up in my lawn, but it does look nice in a shaded wooded area. I've been focusing on planting things that aid pollinators and hummingbirds recently. I've had a ton of ruby throats this year.
  4. What kind are they? My lace cap hydrangeas went gangbusters this year, but I got zilch from the traditional ones. Thinking it's because I didn't cut them back last fall.
  5. Interesting. They are all over my place.
  6. My folks planted one in their yard when my brother was born. It's as tall as the house now and a beautiful tree. Who knew all the seedlings they pull every year could be so valuable with a little more tending?
  7. I have three hives in my yard that a neighbor maintains (in exchange I get damn good honey from time to time), so pollination is not an issue lol. This is apparently the result of a hive splitting, but my neighbor isn't at home to capture the swarm. The bees seem to have calmed down, but it's a big beard and I have no interest in pissing them off by mowing nearby. We'll wait and live to mow another day haha.
  8. Was going to get my third mow in today, but there's a hive of honey bees that decided to take up residence in one of my bushes and it's a bit hairy out there atm. Must be 30-40k of them bearded on it. That said, a gorgeous day. Maples are fully leafed out, bursts of color all over the place.
  9. I installed a nice little parterre and reflecting pool. Am not sure where to build the follies. Thoughts?
  10. First mow of the season in the bag. Lawn looks great.
  11. Florence is really starting to get that mean look this morning. Good luck to you all, stay safe!
  12. Yeah, I brought that up a couple days ago, Jerry. If you had plunked this stretch down in mid-Feb with climo temps, this would probably be the 2nd 2-3 footer for many of the posters in here and the third foot plus storm in two weeks.
  13. I find it kind of hilarious that the Valley got bent over even with an amenable thermal profile. If it ain't temps, it's fooking subby holes. Gotta find a better spot to move to.
  14. This storm has surpassed Boxing Day as my most loathed KU. Total dumpster fire.
  15. Yeah, I have nothing to complain about. The last decade has been insane, and I'll never top being in Boston for '15.
  16. It snowed pretty hard for about an hour and change, but the core of the really good stuff stayed just west. Then the band sort of rotted and reformed off to my east. If we hadn't just bagged a double digit snow last week I'd be melting hard right now, but as it is, I'm just turning my thoughts to girls in tennis whites and sweating ice-cold juleps on the deck. I'll give this winter a B-.
  17. Yeah, flagged for quality control for sure. You see the guy in Sprague CT reporting 6"/hr fluff under that band? Wow.
  18. Yeah, that sounds like BS to me. They probably jammed their ruler through last week's glacier and took the measurement.
  19. 3.5" is my final, Seasons. Wamp wamp indeed haha.
