  1. These warm sector winds are pretty damn impressive. I hope that’s a sign of things to come!
  2. That guy was nuts though, he instigated that whole thing, He was on the attack 90 percent of that video and completely in over his head. You simply cant be attacking 20 people, women included, and not think you're going to get your world rocked. Play stupid games win stupid prizes. Ugly video regardless...
  3. Look at that blast of wind surging up lake Erie. There will be a wall of water shortly behind that!!
  4. Yes! I think somewhere between Buffalo harbor and Batavia could even hit 70. I would feel very confident if that frontal passage was 4 hours or so earlier
  5. I think it happens on Erie more than we realize. The orientation is so favorable for massive seiches with these storm tracks, and seiches go hand in hand with prolonged unidirectional strong winds and thus massive waves. I dunno, seems plausible Anyway, I do agree this is an intriguing system and actually trending stronger in the final 24 hours which is contrary to how a lot of these high wind events played out last year. Needless to say I’m excited!
  6. I like seeing this trending strong but that guy doesn’t check the weather up here much. 20’ waves are routine on the Great Lakes every fall and winter. In fact they get bigger than that in the biggest events.
  7. I mean I was thinking the exact opposite. Nothing more exciting than wild weather at a game. Would have been a perfect week for a home game!
  8. Hmmm, after a closer look it seems like the frontal passage comes too late in the afternoon for any good diurnal mixing. That’s a shame.
  9. This is a pretty solid first wind event for us this season. Latest gfs went really deep with the pressure, 973mb!! However the over amplified gfs has bit me more than a few times in the last year so I’m not getting too excited. Still a nice storm track with a deepening system (for the most part), also the frontal passage looks to take advantage of some diurnal mixing which should up the ante a bit. I’m guessing we get some sporadic power outages with this one. Finally something to track
  10. Was it the halloween storm last year that wrecked it?
  11. You’re talking about too different things. Just because they aren’t making money doesn’t mean they have the staff or supplies to handle a pandemic size load of sick covid patients.
  12. Lets not call it mine or yours. We are just linking things. I don't stand behind either one. But to use your logic. The link you mentioned is just them saying it did happen with zero proof. I typically will believe the NY Times before Q anon though, call me crazy.
  13. And here is a non Q Anon article on the same topic. Weird wild times that we now have to debunk the absolute wackiest of conspiracy theories. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/11/11/technology/no-dominion-voting-machines-did-not-cause-widespread-voting-problems.html
  14. Pretty nice squall line for the second week of November!
  15. I went ahead and bought and installed the Tempest this past weekend. It's definitely a cool little unit. I can already tell the rain gauge will have some issues though. Seems like the weakest link by far from reading what other users have experienced and what I've already seen in regards to its susceptibility to vibrations. I'll probably just end up running old school analog rain gauges anyway; so that measurement can just be tossed out. The rest of the sensor suite is pretty cool (and seems very accurate) and the phone app has a really nice layout. I also agree the online support forums and customer support seems really good. Once the weather turns crappy (and I'm stuck inside for 6 months) I'm going to spend some time working on exporting the data so that I won't lose it if the weather station itself fails (as you experienced). Seems like a lot of options exist to put the data into an API. I've never had a real weather station in my backyard (just little cheapy ones) but I already feel like this will be addicting, haha. I'm already planning to run another weather station along side this one so I can cross calibrate and really assess performance. Looks like I've found another thing to throw money at....lol.
  16. For educated and financially sound white males living in safe neighborhoods; it takes a certain amount of perception to appreciate what this means to so many others. It’s a good day indeed.
  17. This is so spot on. I’ve think I’ve got dust in my eyes or something. watch the video. https://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/2020/11/07/van-jones-reaction-2020-election-result-elexnight-vpx.cnn
  18. Probably about 50 percent of the leafs are gone here in Rochester; which is right on schedule. A lot of yellow and some reds still hanging around which is nice.
  19. This argument is always a little interesting. Your vote counts, if every single democrat felt that way and didnt vote, we wouldnt be a blue state. Someone has to be voting, obviously. It not like NY is blue regardless of who shows up at the polls. NY just happens to have an enormous amount of democrats because of NYC But I completely understand your premise and agree it should be a straight popular vote!
  20. They often say there are 5-10 times more cases than are actually reported. So are we already at 1 million cases a day? I actually think 500k cases a day is right around the corner too. The US chose herd immunity, a bold and dangerous strategy. Our hospitals are about to get destroyed. This is finally the actual pandemic. And somehow we are not much better prepared than 6 months ago.
  21. This is actually critical. If Biden only gets 270 there is a huge chance a few faithless electors won’t vote for him and then Trump takes it. We need a serious buffer. Can you imagine the riots?! Would completely dwarf the BLM movement. Scary times to be honest.
  22. Nice visible loop showing the elevation dependent snowcover in the Adirondacks. Also a neat little strip of snow in NW pa that quickly melts. https://www.star.nesdis.noaa.gov/GOES/sector_band.php?sat=G16&sector=ne&band=GEOCOLOR&length=24
  23. I know some of you guys were talking about home weather stations over the summer. Seems like we had some people that had ambient weather stations and then other people taking the plunge on the newer technology with the new Tempest weather station by weatherflow. Any updates on the performance? I'd really like to get something set up in my yard before Winter really sets in. I always wanted a Davis but those things just seem so wildly antiquated at this point, they really havent evolved with the times. I'm actually leaning towards the new Tempest design but a little skeptical because it hasnt been around long, it's also about twice the price of the ambient.
