  1. I hit a dp of 76 just before the storms rolled through. Great day.
  2. Trip Summary: incredibly intense rains, truly blinding. Some definite wet microburst* type gusts at times. Few small limbs down. Couple close lightning strikes, a handful of pea size hail, and some flooded roads. Not too shabby at all. *Edit - I should have said rain loaded downdrafts because I didnt see any real damage.
  3. I’m out right now! Just torrential rain so far.
  4. I have a pretty decent time lapse of these two cells that have hit the tropopause and flattened out. You can just see the anvil and mammatus on a storm up over Webster (front left side which is North). The other storm (bottom right) was over Farmington, looking east/southeast
  5. These storms are definitely more intense than usual for around here. This is very deep convection. I watched several storms out my window at work smack right into the tropopause and flatten out several times…absolutely beautiful. One of my favorite things to watch. And the updrafts had the sharpest most crisp edges…looking like cauliflower, haha. Anyway, I’m home now and cells just popped over me and to my west and put out a ton of lightning. Huge CG’s! Loudest thunder I’ve heard in awhile. Hoping that more organized area can tap into our instability before it wanes. We don’t get days like this often up here.
  6. At what point will you stop being surprised that the largest urban area (at a very low local elevation) will be the hottest location within 100 miles...Every. Single. Day. This should not be surprising or even interesting at this point.
  7. I hope kROC can duck and dodge like they have been, I've got softball tonight and have been itching to play this week. Current radar trends actually give me a sliver of hope that we could somehow slither out of this without much rain.
  8. 5” at kROC with .1” in Hornell, lol. This is a complete now cast event. Going to be wild gradients with this setup.
  9. 12z nam seems to be dialing back the rain quite a bit in the first few frames already.
  10. Maybe the new format has some bugs?? Here’s a screenshot of your post.
  11. Classic hail spike just showed up from that cell over Lake Ontario. The heavier cells are definitely making some ice today!
  12. This is a really interesting area of convection and energy moving through. Seems nocturnally driven. I’m hoping for a good soak!
  13. And it will never rain again in Rochester. It's pretty incredible. Remember last week we kept thinking someone was going to get inches of rain this week. I think I could have counted all the drops that have fallen in the last 10 days on 1 hand. It's like living in the damn desert...
  14. We ducked and dodged all day, unfortunately. I wanted rain so badly. Only .05” in my gauge.
  15. Those are landspout/waterspout vortices IMO. Fairly harmless but very cool! That storm could never support a true tornado
  16. Urban heat islands continue to grow each year, more parking lots, more buildings, and more places using AC (which likely has a small local impact). When all the buildings are pumping heat outside, it eventually becomes tangible. There is no city that has less pavement and more trees now than in years past. Temps can only go up in these scenarios. I'm quite convinced Buffalos higher temps are solely because of all the development in that area the past few years. Also, climate change is the real deal...and certainly shows itself as warming more often than not.
  17. I want to see one so bad! I’ll get one one of these years.
  18. A little post processing from the earlier pic. This is closer to how it honestly looked. Pretty ominous. There were a couple moments when I thought I had a chance for a funnel…. No dice.
  19. Back into sun post squall line with a dew point of 70! Real front will probably touch off a quick shower later this evening with all this low level moisture hanging around
  20. I’m sitting in a real nice spot. The cloud structure is beautiful.
  21. Heading southwest now. I like the storms in Wyoming county building ahead of the main line
  22. I’m just about to leave. Think I’m going to go straight west now as the cells are exploding quickly. No need to try and get ahead of them anymore.
  23. If this locks in I'm going to be planting a lot of grass seed laser this week!
