  1. Before this gets crazy during tomorrow's main event (model smackdown) I just wanted to thank everyone here for putting forth some great knowledge and really showing the model runs.... But I must admit, I do miss Burgertime's PBP...
  2. It will be very interesting to see how Saluda ends up in all this. 30 years here and I've seen us follow the mountains with a good thump and sometimes even jackpot 3" over Hendersonville/Asheville totals, and I've seen Flatrock with 4" - 5" of white and we end up with a cold rain at 33˚. It's almost like a secondary warm nose forms west of the primary warm flow over near Shelby with some storms. At least there is no ZR signature. This is gonna be fun!!!!
  3. I know in past years I've seen the occasional post mentioning increased data gathering around this point in a storm's timeline. Has anyone heard if the NWS is planning to get additional information into the initialization of the models?? Or, would this system not impact a large enough area for that?? Edit - It got really quiet in here... spooky!!!
  4. Home now in Saluda NC, about an inch and it’s changed to mostly rain, but I’ll take it!!! .
  5. Nice moderate Snow here at work (ICC Spindale NC) nothing sticking here, but the webcam from home (Saluda NC) shows sticking to grassy surfaces, I Will Take It!!!!
  6. Light "Dipping' Dot" flurries down here in Saluda at 35/24. Didn't think it would make it this far south.
  7. 30/28 here in Saluda NC. Icing up on the deck and a little breezy out of the NE .
  8. 30/28 here in Saluda NC. Icing up on the deck and a little breezy out of th NE .
  9. Buckethead, that might have been Venus and Saturn though I'd have to look it up...
  10. Looks like 3.6" rain total here in Saluda NC. Gotta love the upslope when rain shield tracks from the southwest. 2 months later and this might have been an epic winter storm...
  11. It's 93˚ with a 62˚ dew point here at ICC Spindale. "...feeling pretty good outside, for July 71st" Edit - Correction, Its July 94th
  12. Yes, although we didn't see much wind here in Saluda NC as it passed around 3 am, down the escarpment in Tryon and Columbus there was some minor damage and a lot of unsecured summer things blown about... (chairs and such a friend had his gas grill blown over). Amazing how there is another cluster of storm following a similar path.... on synoptic radar it looks like an S curve... unusual look instead of the bow we normally see
  13. It seems that some models keep randomly popping a storm signal around that time frame... interesting to keep an eye on but will no doubt be an all rain event for 95% to 99% of this sub forum .
  14. Could any of the mods or red taggers comment on the government shutdown and if the GFS is getting the full current observational data input prior to each model run? Edit - Saw someone post in the mountain thread last night, that they thought the shutdown was affecting it, but don't really see where the would be the case...
  15. A little early yet, maybe midday tomorrow?? Somebody help me out here is my thinking correct ?? .
  16. I don’t know man, a 46 day euro clown map... just seems to be clutching at straws to me... .
  17. There goes the neighborhood!!!
  18. Well, we had 64˚ for a low this morning in Saluda NC, so it's a start. However 64˚ with fog is still crappy fall weather. I noticed two things last night. The poplar trees are dropping brown leaves and the underbrush behind my house is fading in color. Also, the Katydids are even tired of this heat, they stopped their nightly calls last night completely.
  19. I think I spy a frost advisory for the upper half of Minnesota, a cool down can’t be too far away... hopefully!!! .
