  1. THIS is completely revealing! Such fun! No coexisting with people you don’t agree with. All of those who disagree with her are morons? Who knew? No wonder we weren’t deemed grown up enough to be allowed to discuss corona.
  2. Rural passerby here ( which on this forum apparently, I have learned, in my case equates to ignorant redneck), browsing through this thread and seeing that political trolling/emotion is on the upswing, as frustration rises. It's a political forum, that's for sure, albeit a whole lot more civil than the actual political forum. There's alot of value in this thread, and that is why I read it. Last week, though, I learned here that golfers think social distancing is a joke and put people at risk by their inconsiderate flagrant violations. This week I see increasing evidence that moderation of this sensitive topic is also frustrating, and leads toward authoritative judging and labelling people. I, for example, in response to occasionally voicing my opinion, have been periodically labelled a knuckledragging Neanderthal who adds nothing of value. Perhaps that is true regarding some of the things I've posted. I can be an antagonistic troll. Then I read some of the more valued posters' observations, personal insults and judgmentality and... well, I have difficulty finding much value in a lot of that either. Makes me glad to be a backward country bumpkin who is so uninformed in the eyes of others about the "unprecedented" covid-19 event. Wish I could always make intelligent statements that add value, but in this type setup opinion and philosophy are bound to create some conflict in the discussion. It's a microcosm of today's American landscape. I've read these threads for years and I don't see the referenced poster "acting like an asshole all the time." I can't think of any time when I ever saw anyone referred to in this way in any weather-related conversation. But in this thread disagreement (and lack of proper credentials from the forum mavens will get you lit up. I see this happen with Phin, simply because he posts opinions that may not play well in the forum readership on this topic. Or Showme, who took a powder after getting hammered. Carry on, the discussion is still good, even the arguing, as long as it stays away from the scorched-earth aura of the political forum. I can't imagine anyone thinks this thread isn't political. Oh damn, I didn't add a thing of value (again). Everyone be well, things will come around if we just go back to living soon without the government regulating almost every aspect of life, killing the economy and not allowing large segments of our workforce to be working. That is unprecedented, a serious viral outbreak is not.
  3. Maybe it's something to do with living in a rural area, I definitely would be less comfortable in dense populations, and not solely due to the illness. I certainly respect the need for continuing stay-at-home while there are many new cases. I see it being taken seriously in rural towns. people are wearing masks and being respectful of each other. I agree, however, with numerous posters that wearing a mask does nothing to suppress transmission. For me, the mask is a requirement which enhances public fear, by association, when it obviously won't keep us from catching it. I am appreciative of this site and learn alot here. I only commented because of the seeming animosity to certain views, and though it is nothing personal it gets a little tedious over time. I am grateful for my health today, and wish the same for all of you.
  4. This is exactly my point, thank you for helping confirm. My opinion as a rural passerby may differ, which I respect, but I see that makes me holier than someone, somehow. All I was doing was seeking some discussion, fear and loathing gets boring. I don't think I am vastly different from all the other anonymous experts here, in terms of everyone has to come to their own understandings?
  5. Happy Sunday morning to you all, here’s my (unsolicited and likely unwelcome) offering as I peruse this thread, which I think has been really great overall. I appreciate the house “trolls” who act as judgmental thought police for anyone’s opinion which differs from the mind-numbing state and media-promoted narrative of fear, or who expresses disagreement with indefinite continuance of states’ strangulation of the economic fortunes of millions. It’s very instructive for the many who are paying close attention to the same events. It highlights and is illustrative of the current Grand Canyon divide which exists in our country. Thus it is a good vehicle for learning and discussion. Carry on and have a good day. Respectfully submitted from the “ perimeter”of trolling....cause it takes one to know one.
  6. The virus is less active on weekends? This entire daily ritualistic exercise is impacting people’s senses. And not in a positive way.
  7. Well i thank you for your condescension. And the undercover photos of nefarious golfers. This has strengthened your rep for making factual posts!
  8. This makes an excellent example of statements, which I see vehemently complained of here, made with no supporting facts, nothing but a personal judgment that any golfer must not possess any self-awareness, but acts selfishly/ignorantly. How is that presumption logical?
  9. I wish your family members a speedy and lasting recovery. Dirt digging occurs in the political forum every day, if I recall correctly (having been lit up there once or twice, by you ;). Actual dirt? Much more fun. Enjoy the digging.........
  10. Pretty spot on with the doom porn analogy, sir. There has to be some correlation between people who seem to hope for disastrous weather events to those possibly "rooting" for more deadly viral tolls. People need to chill out on taking offense to opinions with which they may disagree. It is a forum, after all, theoretically.
  11. @showme---- Your "attacker" is simply a well-known political harridan, wishing to relegate you to the political forum chopshop. You weren't out of line, the politicization of your comment came entirely from that individual. The thread is enjoyable despite that momentary irrelevance.
  12. The answer to the question of preparation is complex, but I have read multiple articles stating that CDC is perennially very well prepared to meet such a situation. A pandemic is very difficult to anticipate and respond to, and this one has emerged from a region subject to totalitarian rule, a country that is a major threat to the US. This will also take a long time to determine with the focus now necessary to counter the virus.
  13. 3.5 in beautiful downtown Chestertown between 8:30 and 1pm. Nice event rates were strong. All snow. On the season, this makes 11.0.
  14. 1/8 inch or more and schools will be closed down ......the enthusiasm and nailbiting tension in this thread due to the possibly approaching flizzard is palpable, the visuals, however.......
  15. Rain mixing with more rain, and followed by rain....still plenty of time for improvement, or not
  16. What a great run of winter weather the lower shore had this season, it will long be remembered........So, how's everyone enjoying the rain and mud? Also, has anyone noticed that the models are "depicting" a return to below normal toward the end of the medium range?
  17. Today's forecast is slush/slop followed by concrete....And the epic cold goes on with barely a pause, just enough to screw up yesterday's potentially good snow event. March will be in lion mode this year
  18. Amazing! that happened real fast. Thanks for sharing, N'easter.....We truly are witnessing some serious late-season vodka cold, I think people are long going to remember this winter. it appears that there's going to be a lot more ice out there as the upcoming 7m days offer little to no relief....This is right up there with the winters experienced in the late '70's.....
  19. This cold snap is epic; it's extended and I do believe that a healthy portion of the Chesapeake is going to ice over if the wind eases down.....As for snow, we are looking pretty good at this lead and confidence is growing. The magnitude of this cold airmass and the fact that it simply keeps reloading an active pattern boosts our chances. Would be truly fun if the Delmarva got slammed whilst the I-95 corridor west gets fringed...... bunch of chicken neckers....
  20. The 273+- pity flakes I saw a short while ago qualify as a burst this winter I guess.....
  21. Thanks for the article. Given the economy and the deficit, seems as though any span is an extreme longshot, (seems similar to the waning possibilities for significant snow(s)on the lower shore/southern Md). Agree on the bay's freezing likelihood being low, the deep cold would have to be in place for at least a week or longer. Rivers/creeks will stiffen up. I'm old enough to recall the epic cold of the late '70's.......Feb. '79 saw heavy freezing even in the lower bay iirc....
  22. Dorchester county will never suffer a bridge, the whole idea is bankrupt government insanity. There will be considerable ice, if it's real cold for a week I think the main bay very well freeze
  23. Today's weather will be mostly cloudy with a 100% chance of snow geese
  24. Getting muddier now, soon the mud will be concrete, then snowless rinse and repeat.......
