  1. I am bad with dates but... March 93 Snow April 97 Snow Some insane heatwave in like July/August of 91. Irene 2 other snowstorms in the past 7 years, but I don't recall the dates without going into my archives which are at home. (I was in Rockland County NY during Sandy, which was a bigger event down there)
  2. You actually think he is wishing for his house and property, and neighbors house and property to be gutted by a quick moving CAT 3 or an F-2?
  3. Yeah. I don't think Kev is really wishing for the damage on top of his head, but in fantasy the idea of a huge, historic even nearby is pretty exciting. But when it finally happens, you wish it didn't. Your place was right in the path of that storm. It must have been pretty shi*ty.
  4. Yeah, that seems about right...a drug. I don't really have an issue with the storm chasing overall except for as you mention, when you put your self in danger, or anyone else. I do get a bit turned off when I see him say that he "hitched a ride with a military chopper". There must have been more to this than the nonchalant way it sounds. Military helicopters don't just let people jump on board. Also, why not get trained in some type of medical care and do more after these storms rip through? My guess is that Josh wants zero to do with the aftermath and the possibility of being stuck somewhere for days, and weeks without modern amenities, with filthy, hungry people all around him. ... A few days, maybe, but he really want out as quick as possible. I guess I would get trained to do more and try to help if I could. But, this is his thing, and he does it the way he wants, and does not care if he pisses people off along the way as is his right as long as he does not get in the way of rescue efforts.
  5. ...Ran into this today. Almost 81 years ago. The hurricane of 38 was pretty much the topic of every headline on the front page.
  6. People really laying into Josh in the comment section. https://www.washingtonpost.com/weather/2019/09/04/storm-chaser-went-silent-dorian-hit-bahamas-he-re-emerged-with-harrowing-story/?fbclid=IwAR0RWxC0xgav69gyRWNQLDVT1yGI2ypFgSDp-gLW1oklDmOvoqlR_MlStIA
  7. They closed the Brooklyn golf course 2 years ago. Now it is just an overgrown field.
  8. My 19.5 was right near that 21.1. I should have given you that number.
  9. 19.5 total for me (including the final burst last night) but I do think me and you shorted ourselves by an inch or 2. I measured 19" @ 5pm. My first and only measurement of the day. No board clearing.
  10. lol. He actually said that in a live statement, pointing you out?
  11. 13.5" Brooklyn. Not my measurement but measurement from my daughter. I have taught her not to be a slant sticker but she could be off. Edit: 13.75
  12. Wow. First I've seen a radar image today. Looks like Brooklyn was getting pounded. But here in Manchester, just near Hartford I can definitely see how we were in that area of weakness.
  13. Just a real fine snow here. Visibility is not the best, but the snow is just not amounting to much.
  14. Really not much here at work (Manchester). Maybe an inch or 2 if that. Hopefully it's piling up better back in Brooklyn. I have not checked with my source there yet.
  15. Snow growth not too great here at work in Manchester, but was pretty good in Brooklyn, 40 miles east. Definitely a different scene back home.
  16. I was under the impression this was going to be a dry snow. Sh*t is wet and heavy. 34F right now.
  17. Brought back to life for the Codfishsnowman.
  18. Idiot me. lYeah. Full foliage, and tons of tree damage. Roads were still being cleared 3 -4 weeks later. I suppose it's pretty comparable to the damage in CT a few years back during the October storm.
  19. October 4, 1987 Not SNE, but a great event from 30 years ago today when I lived south of Albany, next to I-90 just over the border from Mass. in Old Chatham, NY. Cars were stranded and I was going back and forth up the hill with gas for people. One of my all time favorite events as it occurred less than 2 weeks after summer ended and we ended up having no school for the entire week (storm was Saturday into Sunday). Although, that winter was fairly crappy after that, and since then never wanted to see another October snow storm, thinking that it meant there would be minimal snow for the remainder of the year.
