  1. I am bad with dates but... March 93 Snow April 97 Snow Some insane heatwave in like July/August of 91. Irene 2 other snowstorms in the past 7 years, but I don't recall the dates without going into my archives which are at home. (I was in Rockland County NY during Sandy, which was a bigger event down there)
  2. Zero people are cranky in this forum about not having a cool September...ZERO
  3. Cool pic from the other day during the Tornado watches here in CT. This was taken in I-384 by a friend.
  4. You actually think he is wishing for his house and property, and neighbors house and property to be gutted by a quick moving CAT 3 or an F-2?
  5. Yeah. I don't think Kev is really wishing for the damage on top of his head, but in fantasy the idea of a huge, historic even nearby is pretty exciting. But when it finally happens, you wish it didn't. Your place was right in the path of that storm. It must have been pretty shi*ty.
  6. This combined with all of the extra acorns all summer long only mean one thing...We are headed into uncharted territory with regard to cold and snow.
  7. Yeah, that seems about right...a drug. I don't really have an issue with the storm chasing overall except for as you mention, when you put your self in danger, or anyone else. I do get a bit turned off when I see him say that he "hitched a ride with a military chopper". There must have been more to this than the nonchalant way it sounds. Military helicopters don't just let people jump on board. Also, why not get trained in some type of medical care and do more after these storms rip through? My guess is that Josh wants zero to do with the aftermath and the possibility of being stuck somewhere for days, and weeks without modern amenities, with filthy, hungry people all around him. ... A few days, maybe, but he really want out as quick as possible. I guess I would get trained to do more and try to help if I could. But, this is his thing, and he does it the way he wants, and does not care if he pisses people off along the way as is his right as long as he does not get in the way of rescue efforts.
  8. ...Ran into this today. Almost 81 years ago. The hurricane of 38 was pretty much the topic of every headline on the front page.
  9. People really laying into Josh in the comment section. https://www.washingtonpost.com/weather/2019/09/04/storm-chaser-went-silent-dorian-hit-bahamas-he-re-emerged-with-harrowing-story/?fbclid=IwAR0RWxC0xgav69gyRWNQLDVT1yGI2ypFgSDp-gLW1oklDmOvoqlR_MlStIA
  10. The worlds greatest weather hype machine is out: https://www.foxnews.com/us/farmers-almanac-winter-snow-cold-frigid-temperatures# Copious amounts of something coming our way.
  11. Even 2 teams in futile territory deserve to play it out...Even if it means risking a lightning strike or 2 and a few sheets of rain.
  12. I left Bethel NY at 5:00 and just got into Brooklyn, CT. We pretty much rode with the heavy rain, thunder and lightning the entire ride. We came out of it for a bit in Danbury when we stopped to eat, then drove right back into it the rest of the way. I wish I had a dash-cam. Serious lightning strikes the entire way. Was crazy, and would have been a wet dream for wiz to drive in.
  13. hmmm. Fall or non-dry and cool...Which way should I lean? Choices, choices, choices.
  14. Seems like they were falling earlier this year, but yeah, out of control.
  15. Pretty much all of June and July acorns have been falling from the Oaks...Non stop, and tons of them. It's probably nothing, but I don't seem to remember so many falling so early. Time to plan for an early winter? What do the dead sea scrolls say?
  16. What the hell is ACATT again? I am not a fan of HHH, but this season has not been too bad, even though there have been some pretty nasty days. The breaks in the humidity have helped make this feel like not a terribly oppressive summer. Like they (still haven't figured out who "they" are) say, it's not the heat, it's the humidity. On those 90+ days with low dews I feel fine, and the dome is not flowing with beads of sweat.
  17. Thanks. Every once in a blue moon I have one. Oh. Good idea. Let me try that. Do you have a link to it?
  18. lol. Why not? if you are looking for a strictly science and meteorological discussion maybe this forum isn't for you. This is the "social" part of social media. How boring it would be if we had pages and pages of drawn out analysis with zero banter. It sounds like what you are looking for can easily be obtained through a weather app, but if you also enjoy small a windows into the lives of people with a common interest in weather, than this is the place. The varied personalities are what make this place interesting, especially during the dull stretches.
