  1. It would make sense to have wire to wire, historic, frigid cold since oil prices will be historically high.
  2. I think if we are going to try and do this between Thanksgiving and Christmas, a date should be set in the near future as holiday events start populating people's calendars soon (if not already). I like the pre turkey day idea myself, but as always, I will try and make any date that I don't already have plans for.
  3. How was the show? I really like those guys.
  4. That may explain why I am hearing that the delivery trucks have only been allowed to fill half or part way this week in New London. Edit: I meant New Haven
  5. What is the time frame of "coming up", and the "that" time frame that you refer to? The sentence is pretty arbitrary and vague without some type of reference.
  6. We were getting hammered pretty good at some points before midnight last night.
  7. Maiden will be in Worcester in about a week and a half. Still one of the best live shows out there.
  8. For the most part a miserable, windy, and rainy past 4-5 days in my hood.
  9. Too many sinners living on that berg.
  10. We were pretty dry most of the summer, but 2 years ago was worse in my area.
  11. Yesterday marked the anniversary of an historic snow storm where I grew up in upstate NY. This is one of my friends marking the occasion. Never mind the spelling error.
  12. What are the ponds and rivers in your area like now? Close to normal levels? Still in deficit?
  13. Worse in what way? I am not trying to be a tool ( at least this time). Are you talking simply from a historical record sense or other? When I see the severe drought discussions, my mind goes to food production, water scarcity, etc...tangible things that make things miserable for us humans, animals, etc., not Kevin's lawn. seemed to be on this drought fear train where we all should have been heeding his doom and gloom warnings, and if not sure death would be upon all of us.
  14. When was the last severe drought that truly affected New England (or parts of the region) in a negative way where there were dire consequences? Food production? Severe water shortages?, etc?
  15. lol. Pretty much sums it up every year, just prior to the start of the season.
  16. Are any of the fall allergy prone people here having more serious than normal allergies over the past week or so? I am. I will have to consult the dead sea scrolls and see what this means for winter.
  17. Indeed. Been howling most of the weekend, but more so overnight and especially this a.m. "Howling" is probably excessive. Maybe few small pots of mums blew over.
  18. I can only speculate that everything built on that island within the last 30-40 years was done so to the strictest of hurricane standards but anything else has to be gone.
  19. Having this depressing round table talk about how expensive energy costs are going to be in New England this winter from an energy analyst guy, and man, the sh.it is grim. The one thing he said is a "positive" is the long range weather is calling for above normal temps. I guess it will be a lame winter, weatherwise and for energy cost as well.
  20. Yes. Yesterday morning it was mid 30s and snowing for a few hours. There is. Video of it on Facebook but I don't tmhink it will link unless your a member of the lake page.
  21. Closing camp for the summer. Snow and 30s this a.m. and sun and 40s in the afternoon. Stacking and storing firewood, and of course, putting to sleep more super uncomfortable Adirondack chairs that no one uses. That barometric pressure gauge is from 1920 or so.
  22. Been snowing most of the morning up around 2K here in the 'dacks. 36F currently.
