WWA for 3-8 inches of snow The last 2 storms have averaged 3 to 4 inches here.
-
This definitely has been a challenging winter for the recreation industry. Although, after these 2 small storms we just had- and that the first one had some wet snow and then drizzle that made a good base even if only 4 inches- I did see it was just enough to be able to get the hard core snowmobilers out on the trails. The rental business is still closed up- they have moveable offices- 2 faux log tiny homes/sheds that they place at in the Irving parking lot next to Fabyans. They bring all the sleds out of storage and park them in the shared area between Fabyans and Irving and run the business out of the tiny homes. They are usually all set up and ready to go for Christmas/New Years. This year, they brought the 2 mobile offices over, but have not got the sleds out of storage yet. They are running out of time. After MA Feb Vacation is over, most everyone switches gears and has no interest in snow activities. They have a month left of their rental season and they haven't even opened yet.

Probably around 3 or so here. We would get bursts of good snow intensity and flake size but nothing sustained. It has basically been snizzle for the last few hrs. The snowmobile rental place here in town never bothered to get their sleds out and ready. Still not enough snow for that. Going to take a miracle, but we may have run out of time. I've been watching the chatter on the suspected Feb pattern and consensus seems to be above normal temps and rain. I suppose it could dump in March and April. But the overall pattern just doesn't seem to support that. Should we start speculating about Winter 23/24?

Check out that gradient where Bretton Woods is. I'm guessing we get 4 inches, but Phin's area could get a foot. Attitash area actually didn't do too bad during the other storm. More snow than Bretton Woods. The plow piles along the side of the road just coming out of the Notch and around Attitash are larger than the Bretton Woods piles. This current map has the same gradient on it as the last storm so it makes me believe things will play out in the same manner.

39 in North Conway, and 32 back at Bretton Woods

I just got snow tires for my car! Yay me, studded as well. Sorry NNE, I may have just chased away the snow.

Got this text from my sister who lives in Manomet, Plymouth: This is the annoying snow. So wet it's almost rain. And super windy. So it hits you in the face like splat! And just sticks there.

The summit of Mammoth Mtn has reported over 441 inches of snow... That is absolutely incredible

Well, my driveway is a shit show. It's basically dirt. So I have giant mud season type ruts, then it snowed on top of those ruts, then it rained into the snow. And the plow pushed a nice little dam at the end of the driveway. Now I need to see if I can shovel this shit show before it freezes solid and my car is locked in the driveway until the next thaw. Totally loving this winter :/

I just got back from North Conway- 25 degrees and heavy snow. I almost got stuck in Crawford Notch. That last mile is pretty steep uphill and then you pop out at the AMC Center and it's a flat plateau before it starts heading down hill all the way to the CT River valley. But that last mile is a doozy, and I have bald tires. I literally had my hazards on and popped my corolla into low gear and turned off traction control. Inched along at like 3mph watching my rpms to make sure I didn't blow my transmission because while I may have only been moving at 3mph, my tires were probably spinning at 50mph. Just barely made it. Was at a dead stop in the slow lane for about 5 mins before I was able to get some forward movement. Whole different world in Bretton Woods. The snow has changed over for the most part- barely any accumulation- and my car said 29 degrees but I think Whitefield is already at like 34 degrees. Attitash and Cranmore might just do ok. When I drove past Cranmore it was Moderate snow, and passing Attitash and then a little further past I drove in heavy snow and could barely see in front of me. I am so glad I made it home! I have an appointment to get snow tires put on this coming Saturday

Bretton Woods right on the edge of the cut-off. We got 8 inches last storm where WildCat and Phin got 20-24 inches. It has a lot to do with the terrain orientation and the fact that from Crwford Notch on west down Rt 302 it slopes down to the CT River Valley. Not holding my breath for my area, but North Conway and Wild Cat could do ok.

Sneaky cold, -5 at Whitefield Airport House had one of those big pops last night that gets the heart pumping and thinking that someone broke in or something collapsed.
-
Alive and waiting for snow, though not holding my breath
-
Well, I guess I could go buy a tube and get ready to ride the river through Bretton Woods. No ice fishing or Ice Castles this year.
-
I dont think the Ice Castles will open this year

Damn, that is some green grass!

You gotta go way far north. I'm in Bretton Woods and there is not much natural snow. You probably gotta go Pittsburg and on North

Whitefield airport says 33 degrees. I use that weather station, since I keep forgetting how to see Alex's station. It has been constant snow all day. I feel like we could have had 3 or so inches by now if it were just 1 or 2 degrees colder. But it is beautiful. Just cold enough to stick on the trees, we might have an inch on the ground.
