  1. Upper 20's with WC's down in the teens....yep it feels good!!! Nice to see more whiteness up in ski country too!
  2. I did switch to jeans from shorts yesterday.......
  3. Another morning in the upper 20's here.....nice!
  4. My numbers for the month of October 2019... Total rainfall was 6.10 inches vs a normal of 2.70 inches, a +3.40 above normal and it slides into 3rd place behind 2017's 8.31 and 2006's 7.34 inch totals. Greatest rainfall was on the 1st with 1.16 inches falling. There were 14 days with measurable, one day with a T and 16 dry days. There was no snowfall for the month vs a normal of 0.6 inches. The averaged high temp was 68.6 degrees vs a normal of 67.8 degrees, a +0.8 above normal. The hottest day was the 4th at 93.3, we will discuss this more in the summary. The averaged low was 46.8 degrees vs a normal of 40.8 degrees, a + 6.0 degrees and average. The coolest day was the 24th and 25th with matching 31.8 degree lows. The overall average temp for the month was 57.7 degrees vs a normal of 54.3 degrees, a +3.4 degrees above average. Highest wind recorded was 43 mph on the 1st. There were several records set during the month, first the daily highs. New set on 2nd (88.8), 3rd (90.4) and 4th (93.3). Two consecutive new monthly record highs were set on the 3rd (90.4), only to have the 4th shatter it with a 93.3 degree reading, which is also the highest temp recorded at my site this year....crazy! I had one (1) +90 degree day in October prior to this event ever in my 40 years of record keeping, a 90.1 degree reading.
  5. Currently 27.6/26.7 with frost and freezing fog, visibility under a mile. High yesterday was 47.8. Great weather!!
  6. Nice to see the whiteness up at 'Shoe and in Highland county this am......it is getting closer!!!

  8. 0.35 for the day, 6.10 for the month of October, almost 6 inches more than September.......
  9. Amazing! Congrats Nationals for NOT having home field advantage.....
  10. So DCA is gonna sink below sea level over the winter???
  11. Clearing here now, but earlier it was pouring! About 3/4 inch total. After hanging in the 50's with sprinkles and drizzle yesterday, heavy rain started after midnight and temp rose into low 60's.
  12. In grabbing a bit of lunch, awesome day to be working outside, currently double nickels and partly cloudy, but clouds are increasing.
  13. Much warmer morning in upper 30's here, about 30% cloud cover and a SSW very light breeze. Temps actually went up a couple degrees since midnight.
  14. I broke the 32 barrier about an hour ago, so first freeze of the year here (barely). Currently 31.8/31.0 with a clear sky, saw the ISS go by just before 7am!
  15. So....including the 0.38 that fell today that will be added in the am, I am at 4.99 for the month now. Crazy after how dry it was the previous 75 days going back from end of Sept to mid July when I had 3.27 during a VERY hot period. After the weekend I will be way over 5 inches for October, and the total for July was 4.78, 90% falling pre mid month. Feast or famine.
  16. If I remember right, they had a write up about issues nationwide with the pedestal on the radars and they (NOAA/NWS) were replacing them as they went bad. I'll see if I can dig back thru old articles and find.... This is the closest I could find, but maybe if I keep searching lol..... https://www.weather.gov/rnk/WeatherRadarDown
  17. Blacksburg's went thru the 'pedestal' issue two years ago, they DID have to replace.
  18. Sky is lightening up and drizzle is backing off so I'd say we are about done here. Looks .20-.22 in the gauge from eye-balling it from inside so a storm total around 1.30 looks good.
  19. We haven't even made it to December yet
  20. Well, 1.07 emptied out of the CoCoRaHS gauge at 7 am and it is still raining at a fairly heavy rate. I can see what looks like the back edge down near Blacksburg/Radford and heading this way, but I may be in the 1.5 storm total range by time all this ends. Not bad for most models minus the NAM giving me +-0.25 two days ago........ Currently rain and 47.7/47.0, wind NNE at 5mph. EDIT- I see several 2"+ reports down in the New River Valley on CoCoRaHS
  21. From radar and what I have falling, looks like everything is west of the models?.......
