  1. Great view! I miss that area, haven't been back since wife passed. I need to return.
  2. Another 0.47 in the bucket this am, so 1.69 so far. That is NOTHING to what is happening just to my south from Rocky Mount thru Roanoke and Blacksburg to below Beckley WV. 3-5 inches there....yikes. Anyway, the skies lightened a bit around 10 am here and the temp pushed up to 52 degrees. Then a thundershower and back into upper 40's and fell rest of day/night on E to ENE breezy winds. That 52.0 was good enough for a new record 'cool max', beating 1981's 54 degree reading. 52.0/42.1 high low. Currently 42.6/39.9 and that heavy rain is right on my doorstep and moving in.
  3. Well, off to a roaring start on the rain front for the week. Broke a daily rainfall record with 1.22 inches in the 'ol CoCoRaHS gauge, old record was 1.15 inches from 2003. Got to love that orographic lift. It is raining with an E wind at 9 mph and currently 50.1/48.8. That may be the high for the day as forecast is for it to be steady or drop a degree or two thru the day.
  4. What do you mean by suffering? I am THRILLED!!
  5. So your HOA fees WILL be adjusted, right? That would be question 1, of many.....
  6. I have a 93 with 111K on it. Just put 800 bucks into it for tie rod ends and idler arm, new front brakes and such. New front basically. Still runs like a top. Cabs corners rusted up a bit, had those replaced 4 years ago. Otherwise she has cost me nothing but to drive it.
  7. And I pulled one of of me this morning.....they are out there thick this year!
  8. I spy, with my little eye, a CoCoRaHS gauge...... lol!
  9. Ummmm, BTW, I'll gladly take the 60's and drizzle if no one else wants it. We will have PLENTY of heat and humidity to spread and sadly share shortly......
  10. While I only picked up 0.04, JUST (like within 2 miles) north and then north from there 2-5 inches fell in a 3 to 4 hour period yesterday evening. Storms just kept back building right on I-64 and pushing north. Northern Alleghany, Bath and western Rockbridge counties got hammered. Several mudslides, a couple road washouts and flooded buildings.
  11. In for the day at 10 am, WAY too warm and humid....sheesh. Bring back the 50's and 60's so you can ACTUALLY work outside.......
  12. Must have been colder back here, all the stations that old or older have 1917 WAY below anything else. Several stations go back into 1890's.
  13. I have 6 dead oaks on my property right now
  14. 1917 must have been a doozy! I (and all the CO-Ops within 30 miles) are running -8.5 to -10 for the month to date and the stations that have been around a while have 1917 one to 2.5 degrees colder!! Crazy.
  15. ^^^ See?? ^^^ oh, wait no si
  16. Very foggy out there this morning!!
  17. Thru the first 12 days of this month I have set 7 new records, all either new 'cool max' or record overnight lows. 7. That is crazy. Running a -9.3 for the month currently.
  18. I CRUSHED a new 'cool max' for the date, 46.6 is all I made it to yesterday for a high. Temp actually started falling a little after noon to the upper 30's and has stayed there since. Previous record for the date was 54 degrees in 1989, that is over 7 degrees!!! Currently 39.6/31.4 with a light W wind at 3 and cloudy skies. That helped keep the temp up overnight.
  19. Running a -7.9 currently to date for the month, including hitting 82 on the 4th. Crazy!!
  20. Yep, you can narrow it down to the spine then. Wisp thru Davis and Canaan down to the 'Shoe. Not a lot of 'populated' places thru there either. But enough close to make it work. And trust me, I KNOW about the 'pricey', son lives in Breck area.
  21. Well, I was proven wrong! Another March in May day to savor before inferno gets cranking over the weekend. Just back from up there again, 33 degrees and heavy clouds and 20-30 mph winds. Walked Bear Loop trail. Not another soul around. About as good as it can get in my book. I read somewhere this morning that someone (CAPE maybe?) was looking for a place that doesn't hit 90 and has snow basically year round? Not a cheap place, but I can throw out Summit county CO from a personal experience. SLIGHTLY cheaper is going just south into Park county. It was 43 this morning here at the house, climbed to 46 about 1pm and now has been falling last 2 hours. Currently 44.8 degrees.
  22. JUST missed a record low again this morning, 30.7 degrees was low past 24 hours, record is 30 degrees from 1983. Socked in the clouds and 43.7 degrees this am, may not get a lot warmer going by the forecast. We did hit 65 yesterday afternoon, but the 15-25 mph winds made it not an enjoyable time.
  23. Same here, valley floors leafed out and look springish, the ridge tops still bare. Transition zone is 2000-3500, above there nada. 24 degrees should have put a dent in anything out, to say the least lol!
