  1. Well, he just texted this to me about 10 minutes ago, so that would be little before 6 pm their time...... so much for May sun angle......
  2. Another 0.40 in 20 minutes from storm #2, 0.70 in 50 minutes, water running everywhere again.....
  3. Yep, we were up there (Mt Evans) 2 years ago in mid August and it was snowing and 31 degrees lol! Crazy. We didn't stay long after it started, that is NOT a road you want to traverse with snow/ice on it, and it was accumulating.
  4. LOL, just looked at son's forecast. I'm dreaming....of a white.....Memorial Day.....just like the one's I used to know.......
  5. Had a storm roll thru less than an hour ago and drop .30 in about 10 minutes, another is on the door step and thundering loud currently.
  6. *divides 3.9 for the season by normal of 26.5* 14.7% hmmmmmm..........
  7. Wait! Wait! Wait!!! WHAT IS THAT??? I see......this blue canopy overhead thru the fog/mist and some strange whiteish looking orb up there....lol!
  8. Another 1.31 in the gauge at 7 am. That brings the last 4 days total to 4.01 inches, and now sitting at 4.93 inches for the month of May. Roanoke had 3 consecutive days with 2+ inches of rain. Never had happened before, their records go back to 1912. I'll have to look for their event total...... Well, here is the NWS tweet- 'For the first time ever since records began in 1912, Roanoke will have its third straight day of having at least 2 inches of rain. Here is the tally as of now: May 19: 2.84" May 20: 2.76" May 21: 2.31" and counting as of 8:45 PM EDT'
  9. Crazy. I am at 3.62 for the month now, and I missed the heavy rains that fell in very northern Alleghany and Bath county on 17th by just a couple miles. I had 0.04, they got 2-4 inches in like 3 hours.
  10. You're old Andy!! Happy Birthday! Hope it is a good one for ya!
  11. Another 1.01 in the gauge this morning, bringing event total to 2.70 inches. And I am FINE with that, because in Roanoke area and just south they are closing in on double digit totals....NUTS!! It actually warmed here a bit overnight, currently 50.4/49.5 and the rain continues with an E wind at 8 mph. The 50.4 is another 'cool max' record, breaking 2002's 54 reading, the 1.01 is a new daily rainfall record, beating 2016's 0.63 inches. If I'd stayed in 40's it would have been my 2nd latest high below 50 degrees this late into the season.....oh well. Hope all along the rivers and creeks stay safe, especially those a bit south of me!!
  12. Thanks 007. Actually yesterday she would have turned 55. Hard to believe it has been 7 years. She loved NH and northeastern VT. We almost bought a 2nd home near Burke in 2005/06.
  13. Great view! I miss that area, haven't been back since wife passed. I need to return.
  14. Another 0.47 in the bucket this am, so 1.69 so far. That is NOTHING to what is happening just to my south from Rocky Mount thru Roanoke and Blacksburg to below Beckley WV. 3-5 inches there....yikes. Anyway, the skies lightened a bit around 10 am here and the temp pushed up to 52 degrees. Then a thundershower and back into upper 40's and fell rest of day/night on E to ENE breezy winds. That 52.0 was good enough for a new record 'cool max', beating 1981's 54 degree reading. 52.0/42.1 high low. Currently 42.6/39.9 and that heavy rain is right on my doorstep and moving in.
  15. Well, off to a roaring start on the rain front for the week. Broke a daily rainfall record with 1.22 inches in the 'ol CoCoRaHS gauge, old record was 1.15 inches from 2003. Got to love that orographic lift. It is raining with an E wind at 9 mph and currently 50.1/48.8. That may be the high for the day as forecast is for it to be steady or drop a degree or two thru the day.
  16. What do you mean by suffering? I am THRILLED!!
  17. So your HOA fees WILL be adjusted, right? That would be question 1, of many.....
  18. I have a 93 with 111K on it. Just put 800 bucks into it for tie rod ends and idler arm, new front brakes and such. New front basically. Still runs like a top. Cabs corners rusted up a bit, had those replaced 4 years ago. Otherwise she has cost me nothing but to drive it.
  19. And I pulled one of of me this morning.....they are out there thick this year!
  20. I spy, with my little eye, a CoCoRaHS gauge...... lol!
  21. Ummmm, BTW, I'll gladly take the 60's and drizzle if no one else wants it. We will have PLENTY of heat and humidity to spread and sadly share shortly......
  22. While I only picked up 0.04, JUST (like within 2 miles) north and then north from there 2-5 inches fell in a 3 to 4 hour period yesterday evening. Storms just kept back building right on I-64 and pushing north. Northern Alleghany, Bath and western Rockbridge counties got hammered. Several mudslides, a couple road washouts and flooded buildings.
