Yeah, a nice 6-8 inch area-wide snow would be about perfect.

Final official numbers for the storm for me. There was 0.6 yesterday at 7 am on 0.03 liquid, then I cleaned a board every six hours and left one to do its thing. Measured 8.5/8.5 at 1 pm, 13.7/6.8 at 7 pm and then another 0.6 at 7 am this morning for a total of 15.9 inches, although the sleet and freezing drizzle had compacted snow down to 13.0. Total liquid was 1.48". Snowfall shatters 1983's 5.5 inches, liquid breaks 1985's 1.30 inches. Adding in yesterday's gives grand total of 16.5 inches on 1.51 liquid for the event.

7 pm measurements, uncleaned board 13.8 inches, cleaned at 1 pm board 6.8 inches. Adding the 8.5 when cleared to current, that is 15.3 inches of snow since 7 am this morning. Board was cleaned. Another 0.15 liquid, so 1.19 there. A 75% sleet/25% snow mix now falling, so I expect the 13.8 will be the max for OTG.

Slowly changing over to sleet in last 10-15 minutes here. When I clean the board at 7 I'll go ahead and switch gauges to keep precip amounts separate. Still 29.7/28.8

6 pm measurements, uncleaned board 13.5 inches, cleaned at 1 pm board 6.3 inches. Adding the 8.5 when cleared to current, that is 14.8 inches of snow since 7 am this morning. Next 'wipe' of the board in an hour (7 pm).

It's been crazy, over 1/2 of seasonal has fell today!
-
OK, 0.59 liquid on 6.7 inches of snow on this 'emptying'. 1.04 liquid since 7 am on 13.7 inches of snow.
-
5 pm measurements, uncleaned board 13.2 inches, cleaned at 1 pm board 5.8 inches. I had to pull the CoCoRaHS gauge as it was about to 'top over' on one side again. I'll give the melted in a bit.

Flake size has decreased to a normal size one, but boy is it coming down right now! Among the heaviest of the day, I MAY sneak in a 15 or 16 inch total at this rate!
-
4 pm measurements, 12.5 on uncleaned board, 5.0 on cleaned at 1 pm board. Snow has let up in last 20 minutes to just 'snow'.... lol. Temp has actually fell a bit, currently 29.0/28.2 at 4 pm.
-
NWS Blacksburg called me about 5 minutes ago asking for snow totals and conditions, lol. I gave her the same numbers I reported here at 3 pm, 12.5 total on one cleaning at 1 pm and 11.8 on the other untouched board.
-
3 pm measurements, 4.0 on the cleaned at 1 pm board, 11.8 inches on the untouched board. Adding up the cleaned board makes 12.5 inches total of snowfall since 7 am. Still snowing pretty hard and 29.6/28.9.

Well, I have found out for you. It is snowing half-dollar AND LARGER sized parachutes here in last 5-10 minutes. Incredible. The 2 pm measurement is 10 on the dot on the uncleared snowboard. I cleared at 1 pm the other, 1.8 inches on it.
-
Not sure if that is sleet or bright-banding from incredibly snow, but that is an interesting line on radar just north of Roanoke back to Blacksburg.
-
Where you be? I'm over in Valley Ridge up on the hill.
-
Keeps getting upped. Was 4-8 yesterday, raised to 6-11 last night, now 7-13 as of 11 am.

I've seen many 7-8 inch reports for this area (within 30 miles) sent in to NWS Blacksburg. Hope it verifies up that way too.
-
1 pm measurement from the uncleared snowboard. 8.5" Currently 29.8/29.0 and snow still falling moderately to heavy at times.
-
And THEN remember there is a giant 'hole' thru eastern Alleghany up thru Highland county from Roanoke radar site.
-
About 15-1, I was surprised myself!
-
Just sent in a significant report to CoCoRaHS, mainly because the gauge was about to overfill on one side due to the wind direction at 11:30. 7 inches of snow on .045 liquid. Man I hope this makes it everyone's way, beautiful.
-
11 am measurement on uncleared board, 6.5". It eased up a bit, but back to heavy parachutes in last 20 minutes! Hoping this continues east and north, you'll like it!
