  1. Now THIS reminds me of years of my youth. It snow flurried here for hours yesterday evening and overnight, I have MAYBE 0.5" of snow blown against objects and in low spots, not a complete cover. But, JUST to my west there is a solid 1" or more and it is still coming down. Looking at cameras, yep, 'Shoe, Homestead up in Hot Springs, up in Highland county, over to Lewisburg WV all look to have 1-2 OTG at the least. Currently partly cloudy, 18.8/9.3 with W wind 12 gusting to 26 mph. Highest wind I had was 51 mph at 12:47 am. Edit-story time. Reason this SO reminds me is this would happen and we'd get a 2 hour delay or sometimes even at cancel for school. Mom was a RR carrier for post office, so I'd be delegated to helping deliver (putting mail in the box from passenger seat as she drove) on her route on cancel days. She did the western and southern part of the county. No sooner than we'd leave the city of Covington snow would go from what I have today to complete cover and deeper the further we'd go west. Up near the WV line there'd be 2 or 3 inches, same for the southern areas near Craig county line. Get back home and as 'ol Yukon Cornelius would say... nuthin.
  2. Sheesh, just had a 30 minute stretch where the wind never went below 28 mph. Sounded like a train was going thru the back yard. Had three separate 45 mph gusts during. Currently a few flurries and 23.6/12.8 and WNW at 18 gusting to 32.
  3. Oh, that means nuthin'. I drove an '02 Pontiac Montana to VT/ME three times to go skiing/snowboarding. First trip it started snowing at Albany and Smug and Stowe got 14" that day as we drove in. I had to hit the parking lot three times before I got the van up into the timeshare space lol. Second trip was the one where it was like -15 degrees with 20-30 mph winds at Jay one day. Snowed there all 4 days with the Jay cloud. Little better at Sunday River the third year, only 0 and little wind.
  4. 24.8/12.9 at 8:30 pm. Still some flurries, but the WNW 16 gusting 34 mph winds are destroying them when they hit an object lol.
  5. And there is the freezing mark at 4 pm. Currently 31.9/16.0 with a few flurries and WNW wind 17 gusting to 37 mph. WC running 20.8 to 16.2 with those winds.
  6. Not quite to freezing yet, 33.7/16.5 at 3:30 pm. Have a few flurries from time to time, that only means 'Shoe and Canaan are getting rocked lol. Highest wind gust so far was 47mph. Currently NW 16 gusting 35 mph. WC running 23 to 19 on those numbers right now. EDIT- I checked up (literally) at the airport (KHSP), they are 24 degrees with WNW 37 gusting to 49 mph. That puts their WC at 5 to 3. Chilly!
  7. Down to 44.3/37.0 at 10 am, winds WNW at 14 gusting 31 mph.
  8. Currently 50.1/47.4 with light rain and WSW winds 7 G20. 'High' was about 6 am at 53.1 degrees as the rain started. Another night where it was in upper 30's at midnight and rose to a early morning high for the period.
  9. I haven't touched alcohol in 40 years and there are days in here......
  10. Wishing you luck, be safe on the roads!
  11. LOL, meanwhile I'm sitting at 39.1/37.0 at 8:30 pm (and KROA and KBCB sitting at 45) after a 46.2 high, that'll likely get beat later tonight. Been a crazy past few days, nights warmer than daylight hours, temps falling all afternoon after a early morning high, temps stuck around 40 all day then 55 overnight..... Winds blowing 30-50 mph from all directions within 24 hours, and more gusty winds forecast for tomorrow and Tuesday with a high wind warning.
  12. Closing in on blizzard levels there.
  13. That sounds like fun, but I have other obligations that week. Enjoy!!
  14. Nice win for UVA last night, and in traditional fashion they held on to the last play to win a squeaker. Was not (as 99% of others) expecting an 11-3 season.
  15. Temp bottomed out at 34.1 around 2 am, then did a slow climb as clouds filled in. Currently cloudy at 37.7/35.6 here.
  16. 36.3/33.8 at 10:45 pm. Forecast low for the night from NWS is 36....
  17. What I loved for that storm was the 'extra' bonus snow we had here. The snow started earlier than forecast late night on the 5th early morning of the 6th and continued thru late afternoon of the 8th. 33.5" fell, 31" OTG when it stopped. Then another 5" fell around the 12th. Had SOG until 19th when 1.81" of RAIN fell melting all the snow (which had 2.15" SWE on 18th) and a monthly high of 62 degrees, leading to massive flooding. Ended month with 6.83" of liquid, 39.2" of snow. Edit, forgot. This was the storm that collapsed part of the warehouse roof at my work on the 8th.
  18. It was a fairly crappy week weather-wise (especially if you wanted whiteness for Christmas), but after the first half of Dec and now 1st half of Jan looking better, I be happy. Super rare we go wall to wall with cold and snow, there's always a warm/dry spell at some point, sadly it was Christmas week this year.
  19. Managed to get a majority of the classic Christmas movies in during the past 48 hours; A Christmas Story, Christmas Vacation, Miracle On 34th, It's A Wonderful Life and Die Hard.
  20. Interesting night. Went to bed 12:30 am (ish) it was 39.1 degrees, it had barely moved between 39-41 all day and evening. Woke up at 6 am, it was 55.6 degrees. Looked at the graph from overnight, it was 38.4 at 2:50 am, climbed rapidly to 56.7 by 4:35 am.
  21. IDK about that, he posted a couple things about two weeks ago where I even asked who had hijacked his name....
  22. That should make your local Saguaro's happy!
