  1. Interesting article explaining AI forecasting for the layman. Incidentally both GraphCast and EuroAI are going for an interesting period in the next 10-15 days or so. I am intrigued.... https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/ai-weather-forecasting-cant-replace-humans-yet/
  2. Have you considered a Daisy Cutter bomb...the one with the 5 ton yield? Very effective in Nam.
  3. My part of CT is good for just one thing....fog. We do fog like nobody's business.
  4. What? He may be a bit of an optimist, but arrogant and pompous? Was Will Rogers arrogant and pompous? (the fingers are flying over Google as he looks up Will Rogers)
  5. The thread has deteriorated. Not only are we not getting good storms, but we're all gonna die of heart attacks and cancer.
  6. Well, I am not bright enough to invent new language concepts such as the "royal you", which has heretofore been confined to the "royal we, us, or our". Funny coincidence, but there is an article in today's NYT describing how a certain presidential candidate loves to use the "royal we", lol.
  7. With whom are you having this argument....the gremlin on the wing of your airplane?
  8. You're nuts, anafront is one of the favored five.
  9. Just came down the upper end of 25/8. Highway was snow covered, traffic crawling, 200 yds visibility.
  10. More down here, ratios. Euro too far south and weak, just like last storm.
  11. Kitz, are you of the Methuselah age like me, and remember Gordon?
  12. Gordon Barnes was a TV met on Channel 2 in NY, and News Radio 88, back in the 60s into the mid-70s. At least once per winter, his morning radio discussion would be about the weak sauce storm coming out of the TN Valley, and maybe we would get an inch or so. Then in his afternoon update, he would tell us the storm is exploding off the Delmarva "like dropping dry ice in a Martini". His forecast would then call for 4-8 in the city and CT (meaning lower Fairfield County), 2-4 north and west, with 8-12 over central Jersey and eastern LI. I really miss those wild surprises. At the risk of sounding like the Unabomber, I prefer the pre-technology days when it comes to weather.
  13. Saturday is gonna go full Gordon Barnes on us southern folk. Just sayin...
  14. If anyone here grew up in the Tri-State area in the 60s, they will remember channel 2 and News Radio 88 meteorologist Gordon Barnes. Saturday has Gordon Barnes "dry ice in a martini" written all over it. Those were storms that came from the TN Valley and popped off the Delmarva. I used to love those storms. 4-6" with an hour of warning.
