  1. There is model agreement in depicting below normal temps going into the first weekend of July, but quickly diverge with the Euro dropping in a high pressure over the sub and a quick temperature recovery for the 4th-5th holiday, while the GFS cuts off a low over the Great Lakes, with accompanying well below normal temperatures through the 5th.

  6. No matter what long-term effects the vaccine MAY have on the body in RARE cases, to me it was no-brainer to get vaccinated when staring at the short-term risk of not being vaccinated and contracting the virus, especially with the more dangerous variants spreading in our country. It's been clear for the past several weeks that almost all of the new cases are among the non-vaccinated. Is my thinking simplistic? Maybe, but so are the arguments of the anti-vaxxers, the people who still will not get the shot because of the unknown horrible things it might do to the body, because it's all a hoax, because the government can't make me take it, because it's no worse that a cold, because...because...because.
  7. That GFS precip map reminds me of winter storm clowns with those kind of numbers. You know the ones I'm talking about, where we say congrats ORD, and Ohio gets shut out.
  8. I am also not immunosuppressed, although I am a lot older (63) and a former smoker, and as such I am really concerned with developing pneumonia as a result of the flu. I am planning on wearing a mask when in crowded company in the winter to hopefully help ward off it off, even though I annually get a flu shot. However, a flu shot is just an educated guess of the possible strains expected to circulate. As you alluded to, there shouldn't be as many sideways looks when wearing a mask.

  15. With tomorrow's axis of the greatest 'nado threat basically running right through the heart of the subforum west to east, I am expecting several jaw-dropping pics and videos from multiple posters here tomorrow night.
  16. And I'm proud to say that I was on the first warned storm of the year. It showed some nice rotation in southern Wabash County, then crapped out. The cell I should have been on was the one on your graphic in southeastern Huntington Co. There were multiple reports of a funnel about 1-2 radar scans after the one you posted and ended up dropping one southeast of there just before entering Ohio. IWX will be surveying in the morning. EDIT: I just got on here and saw your post so I responded, then scrolled down and saw the pics of the one I was referring to. lol

  18. Wow. That's scary to be that close to heat stroke. I actually experienced those temps one time 40 years ago when a friend and I spent 2 weeks in Scottsdale in July. The high temperatures ranged from 98-114 and the lows in the mid 80's. I didn't even exert myself and still could only take a couple of hours outside.
  19. 122° but it only feels like 111°. I don't want to feel either of them.
  20. Although I'll admit that I haven't followed this closely, it comes down to a matter of labor law. For many years, many employees were protected under a collective bargaining agreements, a majority of which were negotiated with a labor union. In the last 20 years or so, corporate America (including the medical field) have shoved unions aside as pro-business legislation was pushed through that neutered workers rights with at-will employment. The result is employers don't need cause to terminate employment. In business and politics, money talks and workers get the short stick. That being said, this is one time I fall on the side of the employer, as it constitutes a health risk to other employees and patients.
  21. Radar's now blowing up. Hammer time for Chicagoland.
  22. What are those strange colors on LOT's radar?
