  1. Now I know why my hair was doing that.
  2. You just don't see a radar signature like the tornado heading toward Caruthersville very often. The hair on my arms are literally standing on end.
  3. Are you one of those guys that run around all winter in shorts? lol I have a feeling that there are multiple posters here that do that. I know that a couple of mail carriers around here are die-hard shorts wearers until it turns brutal.
  4. How depressing, going from WAD to bitter CAD.
  5. I picked up 0.1" this morning. Stacked 'em deep.
  6. Oct. 19-20 1989, the "blizzard of '78" of autumn storms in Central/Northern IN. 9" of cement
  7. The discussion is about measurable snow. No one is arguing the fact that many years may have had only an inch or two of measurable snow. If ORD can slip through tomorrow night, 2021 will shoot from a top 10 to top 5 in latest measurable snow. You can say that there are lies, damn lies, and statistics all you want, but it is getting very late for a 1" snow in Chicago.
  8. Already have thunder in the forecast for Friday night. Also, it dropped from the upper 50's last night to the low 30's today with 35-40 mph gusts. Got to see 6 snowflakes.
  9. Oh, I wasn't saying don't throw fastballs, but just make sure they are off of the plate enough that he has trouble reaching them and he'll swing away. He's always been one of those guys that doesn't miss a mistake, so just throw anything that's not a strike. He's always been horrible on off speed stuff as long as the pitcher doesn't hang one. EDIT: I just checked his stats and his walk rate through his major league career is right at 5%.
  10. Where the heck have YOU been? I have really been jonesing for some UP reports/pics. Glad to see you're still around.
  11. .....Oh, and the beginning of winter is sucking here, especially compared to north of the state line.
  12. It's the first day of met winter, so figured I'd set up shop. FWA climo is unfortunately closer to Ohio's than the rest of the Sub's, so I may just camp out here. The fall thread was only a couple of pages, but this thread has contained some classic-epic-historic meltdowns in past winters, so I want make sure there is a place to vent. I figured I'd start by taking a jab at Josh. Congrats on snagging Baez lol. I say this being Being a Cubs fan for the past 55 years. Don't get me wrong, he is an exciting player and has a knack for making outstanding plays, both on defense and running the bases. He no doubt played a big part in the run to the '16 Series. But my God, if pitchers would just feed him nothing but hooks and changeups, he would be batting a buck 20. I don't know why anyone would throw heat to him that is anywhere close to the zone. Below is a video grab of him taking a hack against the Giants in August. This is NOT the ball coming off of his bat, but a change-up heading TO the plate.
  13. I'm going to end up with 1.17" of precip for November (1.07" at FWA). Not completely dry, but if this keeps up, it's going to be a long winter. MI aside, Alek's WAD call is looking money so far.
  14. Matt Leach, TV met at FWA (WPTA), lurker, and occasional poster here, is calling for a front-loaded winter for this part of the sub. I would be interested in hearing why he made that call. Any thoughts here?
  15. Happy Thanksgiving. I'm in the mood for some mood flakes overnight, courtesy of the Lake.
  16. I wanted to hit my yard one more time, but the weather hasn't cooperated. Now it's to the point where it can just stay shaggy all winter.
  17. Both the GFS and Canadian are showing Western Lower MI some lake love Friday night.
  18. 50 years ago there were very few deer in this area. I had a neighbor who would go up to Northern Lower MI and bow hunt. He gave our family some one year and it tasted like pine tree. I didn't touch it again for 30 years. I finally tasted a local corn-fed one and have had others since then, and although much better, I still haven't acquired a taste for it.
  19. Looks about right. Mchenrysnow gets edged, although I'd move that ice line just a little farther north, say around Indy, Dayton and Columbus.
  20. Although it's not my geographical region, it's nice to see you posting your LES forecasts, @OHweather. Not only does it mean winter is coming, but I always learn a little meteorology from your posts. Welcome back! Also, lol at this thread being nearly seven years old.
  21. October FWA; 5th Wettest 7.31" +4.36" 18 days with measurable rain 7th Warmest 59.3° +6.1° 24 days above normal temps I could get used to Hotobers.
