Jumping back to the Euro Seasonal, I would definitely not give up on December. The only free maps the Euro site offers are world and N. Hemisphere views. As such, attached are the World 850 temp ensemble mean anomaly maps for December and January. Both months have us in the normal range with December closer to slightly AN and January closer to slightly BN. Thus, we could definitely score in December, mostly likely a single event like 12/82 where BWI had a coastal that dropped 6.7" with Biglerville at 2". And despite that event, BWI was still +3.4 degrees AN for December. Finally, also attached is the 500mb anomaly for 12/82 that was butt ugly but still didn't prevent a coastal.

Yeah, those surfers are some smart dudes.

Well, this is what December 1986 and 2014, both Niños, looked like and I'd take either one of the ensuing wintets. Warm Decembers in Niños is normal. 02' was unusual.

Nobody posted the Euro Seasonal yet? It's nice.

It's been a pretty impressive drop in the last 7 days and the opposite of what this map has looked like all summer.

96 at York Airport.

Nws forecast for Monday the 11th imby is Sunny with a high of 78. It can get to 120F for all I care before then so long as Monday and beyond works as currently advertised. I vividly remember the relentless heat of the summer 95 snd what happened once November hit. The price was worth it.

We go to Montezuma's in Gettysburg probably once a week. Fyi, they're building a Plaza Azteca about 150 feet up the road from your Mexican Restaurant, but it's a chain in case you've never been there.

Oh, that Walmart is great too, and I AM a happy Walmart/Sam's club shopper. My wife and I seriously considered moving to Waynesboro back in around 2011 or 2012, but decided it was too far from our jobs. If it was up to me, we would have moved further n&w than Hanover. But with our daughter and her 3 kids all under 6 living on the se side of Hanover, we needed to be closer to them. So we're in Hanover Borough north of "downtown " to squeeze out as many snowflakes possible before the dreaded sleet line from the south hits. Lol

Ahh, gotcha. My wife and I will often go to the Lowes in Rouzerville (though officially listed as Waynesboro by Lowes) for the drive and scenery. Really pretty out your way.
-
What's ur elevation? I see your sig has Pen Mar/Rouzerville. Pen Mar is near the top of the hills but Rouzerville is down the hill a bit.
-
Probably not, but I have no idea of the responsibilities. Is there a link to a NWS site that sets out requirements, etc.?
-
Come to think of it, that makes sense needing a coop observer. I noticed that Hanover records on the State College site came to an end over a year ago.

Moved and then retired. Granchild chasing.

Fyi, I got that graph above off of this link that has a bunch of decent wx info. https://s2s.worldclimateservice.com/climatepanel/

Don't know about the forecast, but currently it's close to average.

Well, posted now are June to July for both 09' and this year and the trough in 09' is still way deeper and should be cooler than this year. I understand your argument in general. You may be right, I don't know because I haven't researched it. But right or wrong, I don't think the 09' v. 23' comparison can be used fairly in light of the difference in size and depth of the eastern troughs and Canadian ridges.
-
I used June to August because that's what you originally used.
-
That's June to July. I posted June to August.

92 in Hanover on my cheesy thermometer and that appears to match York airport 12-13 miles as the crows flies to my ENE.
-
I should have double-checked before posting. The trough in 2009 was much stronger than this year (in addition to the weaker ridge), so cooler temps would be expected. So I'm not sure I agree with your statement that the trough this year was nearly as deep.
-
To be fair, that ridge over western Canada was so strong it allowed some big-time heating to occur that wasn't going to be modified on its way south. Weaken that ridge in western Canada to that of 2009 and you lose the back burner heating prior to delivery into the US. For winter, I hope the better part of that ridge lingers.

And no basement! I saw Dan Ryan homes is building in there, or should I say DRB Homes. If you Google Dan Ryan Homes the reviews aren't pretty, which is probably why they changed the name!!! Lol Interestingly, I went to High School with Dan Ryan in Baltimore. Same grade but never in the same class for anything ever in 4 years, and it wasn't a huge HS either. So I can't say I know him. Anyway, according to the DRB website, he's still running the show there.

Since the MJO has behaved like no other super Nino, doesn't this therefore suggest it won't become one? I guess it could, but it seems you need MJO cooperation similar to previous events in order to get one unless there's a new way of getting there.
