Some mesos have a small snow hole over Estes I think from downslopimg. Could be difference between 2 feet or even 4

We had graupel for a bit then some light snow. Very light currently not sticking. Prob gonna take some time for heavier stuff to work in -

Question. When you look at the 3km NAM for example it seems there’s a little snow hole over Estes. Do models handle the elevation here, should I consider a last second trip N a bit?

I’m right at the Ridgeline Hotel. My elevation in this spot is like 7600. Should be an interesting one I don’t really know what to expect

There may have been 30 spots near my house but I don’t think I hit it personally Think it was like 27” if I’m correct. looks like NWS has 18-30 here so got a shot I suppose if we get lucky

I have safely arrived at the hotel in Estes Park. Travel was fine a bit foggy in the mountains though. With a fellow chaser. Hoping we can eclipse 2 feet here and my hope deep down is 3 feet, but we’ll see. I’ve never seen more than 30” in my life. Good luck everyone. 6z NAM looks a bit better btw

Are you there dude? I’m literally on the plane now. I’m worried when I get there roads will be closed to Estes and I won’t be able to get in. Then it’s bolder, but we’ll see. This is earliest I could leave

Actually I’m just getting a Lyft or taxi there meeting someone and hopefully finding another one back lol. My stimulus came today which helped!

Which is a bit of a worry. Out east the NAM did quite well this year. Another model that did decent this year during a few events was the Icon. It has everything farther N up into WY and S Dakota. The cost of my trip might push 1000 and I don’t want to do that without a really really good shot at 3 ft.

Appreciate it. I could grab an uber from the airport to estes for about 100 bucks. Not bad considering I dont really need a rental to drive anywhere else.

Sorry to clog up the thread. Tried PMing you but didn't work. How is the drive from Denver International to Estes Park under normal wx conditions? Will I lose cell service during part of the trip? Just want to plan ahead as best as possible since Estes looks like where I'm headed. Gonna try to leave as early tomorrow as possible

Yeah I plan to stay in hatever hotel/motel I find. I just have to get there before it starts, thats the challenging part. I shouild be able to afford to stay for a few nights wherever i end up. Thanks all. You wont find me on the roads thats for sure lol

Thank you. Now when it comes to elevation vs not being in the complete sticks is there any specific town near there that I should look fo? For example looking at that WRF image above I’m guessing those 40” plus amounts are up in the mountains?

Hey guys looks like I’m flying out there tomorrow. Gonna figure out the complete logistics tonight. Last second decision as always haha. Should be fun. I’ve gotten some recommendations for spots so far (any state)...would appreciate any more. I need to find a place relatively close to an airport. I just chill at a hotel. Yep, heavy stuff starts Saturday evening. Plan is to leave late tonight or tomorrow morning. Just at work now when I get home figuring everything out. Should be interesting. I also have a fear of air planes lol. Only been on one my entire life but screw it. Just hoping the light snow falling tonight doesn’t make flight become delayed.
