    even a hour ago the weather people predicted the heaviest snow to last until 4:00 pm it lasted till about 12:30 pm...

    The combination of an exit region of an upper jet and increased thermal forcing will allow snow to overspread the rest of the area from SW to NE today. Up to 2 inches of snow have already fallen in some of the southern zones. Have increased snowfall forecast slightly in these areas, and might need to increase them further with the next update. 12z NAM QPF implies warning criteria snowfall (average of 6 inches within a 12 hour period) by late afternoon. Latest couple of HRRR runs brings QPF amounts just shy of warning criteria for the same area with the axis of heaviest QPF just offshore. This is shaping up to be a close call, and complicating matters is that sleet is expected to mix in for some southern zones by late afternoon. Have decided to keep with an advisory for these areas at this point. At least for the time being can message heavier snow bands with SPSs before making any headline changes.

    odd the sidewalks are dry when i went out this morning even with snow on the edges of the sidewalk..

    craig allen is calling for 4-8 for the city and 6-12 for down the jersey shore and east across long island..

    i remember in feb 1994 on a tuesday in nyc we had 8 inches in a very short time then 3 days later on a friday we got almost 14 inches in the city..

    13.3 inches as of 1:00pm and between 1 and 2 pm it snowed really heavy in the park hard to believe only 2 inches of snow in those 3 hours
