  1. this looks to be a fairly quick hitter here, modeled snow is right now from about 4 PM to 4 AM but this reminds me of those storms where dry air really eats at the back side and the end of snow comes flying through 3 to 4 hours before expected
  2. Point forecast of 19 today. Likely the last time we have a high in the teens this year. The pattern and climo really start working against us
  3. nice inverted trough feature with this one, will extend some light snows well NW of the low. first and final call of 3" here
  4. Fine layer of ice on everything. Had an adventure bringing the garbage bins down to the road. Most area schools are closed tomorrow
  5. Temp down to 29. Freezing rain in full swing. Accumulating quickly on elevated surfaces and cars. Once the temp drops a bit more it’ll start icing up roads as well
  6. After the next 7 days or so, the polar air really looks to get scoured from the CONUS and southern Canada, not saying it'll be warm or torch by any means but our window for highs in the 20s and lows below 15 is quickly coming to an end
  7. Lots of dry air aloft and things looking a bit convective. Feel like this will end up as a long period of freezing drizzle with occasional sleet when the convective showers hit
  8. popped up to 51 here today, was nice to open some windows in the house for a little while
  9. makes our 18.4" and -19.9" seem like a bounty
  10. would do anything to avoid that euro solution in terms of freezing rain. The GFS still has lower precip amounts and more sleet in the area
  11. 06z NAM gives us about 18 straight hours of sleet, with it still going at the end of the run. Only about .2 of liquid equivalent accumulation so would be light overall better than freezing rain I'd say
  12. La Crosse gusted to 62 and Rochester 60 earlier. I believe Wausau also had a gust around 60
  13. this is the first set of Snow Squall Warnings MKX has issued
  14. Arctic front now here. Winds impressive but not a huge visibility drop. Accumulating quickly on the roads
  15. early signs are that we will be right on the line between snow and mixed precip with this one, really hoping it stays just snow
  16. luckily the timing of the front and snow squalls is slowing down a bit so they won't be hitting directly at rush hour in Madison, more like 6 PM or so
  17. For a few runs now the GFS has a carbon copy of this weeks storm happening next Thursday into Friday. Can’t wait to do it all again
  18. not great here, mostly dry end to last year, barely any precip so far this winter. definitely need some soakers this spring after the frost leaves the ground
  19. GFS shows an active week next week, multiple storms ejecting from the SW trough
  20. over half my yard is now bare grass, should be down to just patches by Wednesday evening. The remaining areas are hard packed ice and snow from the last week of december.
  21. definite shift south on the 18z NAM. Really hits the Peoria to Chicago to Kalamazoo corridor
