    A good wind and rain event would tear most of the remaining leaves off but I’m not seeing it over the next 5 days.

    The last strong El Niño had a December that was good. Even 1957 had a 12+ event in NJ on 12/5-per my memory EWR recorded 13.3. Not sure what happened here. And don’t forget all the snow in 1997.

    It’s 11/3. Everyone stay calm. Guidance is in flux now so where go past mid month is not entirely clear. Meanwhile not a bad look mid month on clown range GFS.

    Presuming you mean first freeze? Probably late November since average is 11/7 based on 1981-2010 normals per memory.

    Had the most number of trick or treaters in years. Still plenty of candy left for next year if I can avoid consuming it. Old school chilly Halloween.

    It just feels good to have a natural progression to winter even if December is disappointing. I typically don’t have big snow expectations before the solstice so a mild December won’t surprise or bother me.

    Yeah it’s definitely a better sign vs some of our utter ratters.

    Good chance I would think. In fact just about all of us should be AOB freezing Thursday morning. In the 3 strong Ninos of the past 25 years including this year, a freeze at BOS occurred prior to climo. Admittedly a miniscule sample size but definitely a cold look in general at least to beyond 11/10. By mid month we'll see if we can avoid well above normal and maybe maintain some chill.

    Interestingly enough, BOS will end up below normal qpf although ytd is above and vs last year way above.

    So…moving forward…we get another nice cold dump nicely signaled with some fun potential around d9-11 per ensembles and then the flow relaxes but it’s kind of heartening to see the thumb projection just north of AK. It suggests we may reload again maybe around the 15-20th or so. November is not shaping up warm by any means.

    Not sure about that. Normals remain 50+ for highs into mid month for most of SNE. I mean on 12/1 we're something like 45/32 at BOS. Let's see what this does.

    I had a rare hedonistic lunch. Grilled cheese (3 cheeses) on sourdough with the crispiest fries around. However eating that keeps you full for a long time! Gorgeous day as we move into a new wx regime. So many of our early snows come with anomalous warmth right before it seems. November 1995 had 60-70 the day before we got a 3-6 dump. We were off to the races thereafter that season.

    Ahh if only. What a life change it would have been! Who knows what else could have happened in the trajectory! Maybe a feature film by TWC?
