  1. Got caught in a ridiculous downpour without an umbrella around 8:15PM last night. This was in the back bay.
  2. Actually Paris is well north of all of us at 48 and change N. Cannes on the southern coast is 43.5-north of anywhere in sne.
  3. El Nino summers are usually produce lackluster Atlantic years.
  4. It was Hurricane Doreen 8/18/77. I’d take the winter that followed.
  5. About the California potential deluge-was there during a summer before burgeoning nino in the late 70s. Had tickets to a Dodger game honoring Willie McCovey and it got rained out by a tropical storm that dropped 3 inches in LA which is ridiculous in august when climo is something like 0.1 for the month. So while uncommon it does rarely happen.
  6. TBH-this summer has been subpar. Kudos to Steve for nailing the pattern change.
  7. White knuckle drive in driving rain to ohare tonight. Flight originally scheduled to arrive at BOS near midnight now scheduled 3:15AM arrival. Flying is so much fun….
  8. Both yesterday and today have been beautiful-no doubt about that. 2nd half of August definitely looks like bigger heat is more likely mitigated a bit by the calendar. Busy week as we are going to a family event in Chicago. Wife flies Wednesday, daughter Thursday, me Friday thanks to different schedules this week. Should be similar wx there.
  9. By mid month yes. Not on 8/1 at least to me. Some of our hottest days have been recorded in the 8/1-10 period. Normal temperatures start dropping by the 10th. The sun angle today is similar to mid May which I consider high albeit with much cooler temperatures.
  10. I will be shocked if we aren’t quite summery by late next week. Now you may say the back by them is broken but do you say that about winter on your birthday? More or less equivalent in opposite seasons.
  11. I’m hoping to spend some time over the winter away from New England but I say that every year and never go. I don’t like Florida but I’d consider Arizona, Hawaii, or maybe even Australia for the effect of summer in our winter. I’m ok with winter as long as we don’t get ice. The problem is even good snow years yield to ice in the freeze thaw cycle and if I can’t walk at least 5 miles a day I’m in danger of losing my mind.
  12. We turned off the ac and opened windows today for the first time since forever it seems.
  13. Always a bit sad to have days noticeably shorten and nights cool. August looks to start out nice but WAR looms and my guess is we’re quite summery by mid month or sooner.
  14. Taking from obs 1/2 mile away. 3.45 now.
