  1. Are you solo? Gallatin looks a good spot with 45 seconds more totality va Nashville.
  2. Thanks Richard! I wish I were chasing with you- an experienced eclipse viewer.
  3. See I don't get this part. I'm dying to experience the event and spending time with tripods/cameras means that experience is diluted. I'll shoot one with my iPhone during totality and that's it. Triple creek park in Gallatin,TN. Register with eventbrite if you're there. I do plan to allow for hours getting there vs the typical 40 minutes from Nashville.
  4. Yes. Shortly after noon Sunday. I have a hotel near BNA Sunday and Monday nights.
  5. Flying solo I believe but my wife and daughter may be last minute additions with my wife's friend living in Nashville now.
  6. Ice consider Nashville. Cool place in general and good chances for visibility if the medium range Euro is to be believed.
  7. 2079 is going to be fabulous! Hopping 2017 and realistically 2024 are great. Clouds mean everything and 2024 could be polluted that way given the April time along the lakes.
  8. Others in the know disagree.
  9. I'm going to get up early and head to Gallatin. I'm waiting until about Thursday or Friday to buy my plane ticket because I want to be sure BNA is the destination. My plan is to get to Triple Creek Park which per photos is wide open. My return will wait until 8/22 which gives me latitude to not worry about crowds too much.
  10. Despicable month. Losing light, traffic doubles, summer over.
  11. High imapct from r what species? Bluefish or flounder?
  12. This is it for me. I doubt I'm alive on 2044-98th bday would be 12/1. I think the BNA idea remains viable. I've been out west in summer a lot and trust me it's not cloud free. I can buy or change the air ticket on pretty short notice. Incidentally DEN is cheaper vs BNA but I have miles to use so that's not a big issue.
  13. Yeah plan B is fly to Denver, check in somewhere and sleep till midnight then get up and allow enough time to get to Casper-normally a drive under 4 hours but leaving midnight allows for nearly 10. Incidentally the car rentals are also expensive but Costco at least keeps it within some reason. I just booked a car for $150 for 2 days out of BNA.
  14. Interior Oregon has the best chance of clear skies. I'm still planning on Nashville but am prepared to change at the last minute if it becomes clear that Nashville will have a high chance of clouds.
  15. Yeah Gene it's going to be spectacular provided the sky is clear. My plan is to leave from my hotel around 5-6AM and drive up to Gallitin near the center line. It's only a drive of an hour or less but I anticipate traffic will be pretty intense so getting their early to me makes sense.
  16. Plenty of rooms just outside totality but I want to go close to the center line. I thInk the roads are going to be clogged so I just didn't want to risk getting caught in traffic. So if the road to Gallitin is too crowded I know I can watch it from the hotel I'm in near BNA which based off of memory is kind of in a higher area. Nashville has just under 2 minutes of totality while Gallitin is 2 minutes and 40 seconds.. Im paying $280/ night for a Residence Inn-last room I could find.
  17. I'm booked. I waited too long so paying ridiculously high hotel rate but going on 71 I'm not waiting and banking on being around in good shape for 2024.
  18. Great description Gene! I'm booked in Nashville for the eclipse and may drive north to expand the time of totality. Totally psyched!
  19. Would cause some anger in winter I suspect.
  20. Maybe 51 perturbations vs 1? Besides, the op doesn't go beyond d10 and we're speculating 8-15.
  21. Yeah eps says warm but not hot. Not so unusual 7/3-10...lol.
  22. Maybe the op but for me I look at GEFS and they're not cool.
  23. I don't see the return to heat next weekend as much as I'd want it.
