  1. Close the shades....open them when someone yells it’s snowing out...
  2. I’m airing things out after stinking up the place by opening today’s eps.....
  3. That long range (d8-10) system on gfs is perfect banana high and all.
  4. Disconcordant between euro and gfs in a similar way. Gfs started a high amplitude wave maybe even after the shut down so I suspect these processes are automated.
  5. Not related to shut down. It’s been this disconcordant for weeks.
  6. There’s a chart somewhere that lists KUs and MJO phase. Anyone have that link?
  7. I definitely in a small way want to see the melts coming from futility....it would be amazing to watch.
  8. Not specifically arguing your point but 2014-15 started in late January and is (for Worcester on east) considered the winter of our lives.
  9. Looping the GFS H5 you see a contour not unlike an erection popping up from old Mexico in the medium range. Pretty funny actually.
  10. Thank you! I knew I wasn’t nuts (well about this at least).
  11. I look at a few things. 1. Heights around AK and th Beaufort Sea 2. Heights in the nao region 3. Temperatures (850) in our part of the hemisphere. as a weenie, I look at snow maps. SV maps which tend to be the most conservative have 12+ for most of us during the run. Heights are above normal but there seems to be enough of a PNA and EPO working with nao to keep us in reasonable shape. It’s a huge improvement vs 0z which had low heights on the Pacific side in a place we don’t want them.
  12. I don’t see that. Are they epic? Not yet. It certainly far from fugly.
  13. Looks more like GEFS now. Big difference was big area of high heights in the high arctic which was not there for 0z.
  14. Can you go out and walk in the snow? Don’t sell the beauty of that short. Good exercise too.
  15. Looks like quite the eps cave in the 11-15.
  16. Through 12/29: BOS: +2.5 ORH: +1.3 BDL: +1.3 PVD: +1.4
  17. This looks promising mid month and beyond. http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/precip/CWlink/MJO/CLIVAR/clivar_wh.shtml
  18. I flew to Florida that night. Departing into a screaming NE wind and heavy rain. Came home and that guy bombed the brookline family planning clinic. It was cold for a few days with a wet system near NYD that ended up burying PWM.
