  1. I was walking one night last year and I heard the howls. Decided to pack it in and go home...
  2. Thank you as always for the detailed work. Looks like a pike north winter.
  3. I remember standing outside of Steve’s Ice cream original Somerville location in mid January 1976 with a line around the block with temperatures neat 0. We had 12+ about a day later.
  4. After a deep freeze last week I expect to be mostly bare by next week. Some of the trees in the woods were leafed but our property was dropping nicely when we left last Thursday.
  5. We’re in Chicago but the landscaping lady wants to know whether it’s this week or next week cleanup. No brainer-next week. We’re back probably by the Monday before thanksgiving.
  6. “A lie goes halfway around the world before the truth sees daybreak”. Not sure of the exact words of the last sentence but you get the idea. Lying is more effective. If you have someone with the ability to lie and not at all be bothered internally they can make many believe them.
  7. First half of November departures are going to be off the charts!
  8. Buuittt-you can have RNA with good ridging in AK. EPO is the king of cold. NAO is the king of snow?
  9. Did you mean heifer? As in GOAK heifer vs pig? Or is Heffer something else?
  10. You quake weenies need to experience a bog one. I was scared on bridges and underpasses the first 10 years after I returned from California.
  11. Definitely warm in early December. We had a snow event the first Saturday of the month and then mid month. Around 12/23 we had an inland runner dump 2-3 inches of rain amd the pattern changed to fun with the first of the siggy snows 12/28.
  12. Incidentally I remember November 1993 reaching near 80 at BOS about a week before thanksgiving. Leon played and we had 3 months of fun late December onward.
  13. Outdoor pizza and beer at a cute joint in highland park,IL. ridiculously warm but the extreme heat ends this week.
  14. We’ll find out. Tonight’s words are good imho.
  15. My daughter has had at least 6 tests in VT. With every one the results are within 24 hours. My wife and tested last Monday in the Boston area-negative results in 3 days. I think VT is doing better than you think.
  16. I’m here in Chicago. Man this thread went AP for a spell! Sturgis super spread after all...crazy! Now the spontaneous demonstrations and celebrations and protests will spread more...
  17. Keep us posted and let us know you’re ok please! Godspeed Steve!
  18. They are the same. But they are much more widely used. It’s been a long time since you had to state you’d be out of town...
  19. The thing about mail ballots-they’ve been around forever. My first time voting for potus was 1968 by mail in absentee. In those days you (per memory) had to tell why you can’t show up in person but no one checked. Early voting is also a big boon to participation. My wife and I voted by mail but dropped if off at town hall since we as usual procrastinated and cut the mail window too close. Never miss voting even for only local elections. The rules of how to fill out and where to put your ballot by mail in MA requires you to carefully pay attention!
  20. So great to have the data an hour early!
  21. It was blasting over the loudspeakers while a few thousand of us were running the Long Beach marathon 32 years ago-memory burned in!
  22. Oaks are native. Norway maples aren’t-they are crowding out the oaks and screwing with our eco system ultimately. This is not a new problem but imho they should have left well enough be long ago when they got here.
