  1. Where I was we did ok in December. About 10 inches on Boxing Day per my recollection but there was a sizable cj component. April was better in 96 but if you’re not doing a 97 or 82 in April why bother?
  2. It seems to me you forecasted a ratter and a sub 35 inch snow total for you. Fail.
  3. I agree and realize that for most of sne that is the average winter. The great ones and the ratters stand out but a typical winter sans extreme cold (which usually does occur for 1-2 spells) is I think what we have here.
  4. Don’t forget that March storm that saw a flip to heavy snow and temperatures really plummeted. I was on my typical walk in those days up Corey Hill and I had the thought that I was putting my life in danger during legit blizzard conditions.
  5. That’s kind of what made 2004-05 so great. Every month had above normal snow with good events in November and December, the epic snows of late January which kept on giving. Not to mention the widespread huge event in January of 2005.
  6. Magnificent day! Time to crawl out from under
  7. I grew up In Teaneck. Butler and the Pompton Lakes area was country and snowier. We used to have a summer place in White Meadow Lake. My memory of driving there in the early1950s was of a long trip-long before the interstates were built out.
  8. In Washington Square Brookline for a doctor appt-we rain
  9. I’m not sure the sample size is bog enough. But in general I agree on a one off I’d take Nina but the second year is traditionally bad in strong ones.
  10. What is the average Boston snow for strong Nina vs strong nino?
  11. Yes I agree. But my point to him is of it plays out like that few of us would be happy l.
  12. What exactly is poppycock? George says next year is big Nina. It that happens ratter likelihood goes way up given it would be year 2.
  13. The picture I posted is the best she’s looked in years tbh.
  14. Nice find! Joni did not age well. A heavy smoker and survived a ruptured brain aneurysm.
  15. One thing I heard about is monoclonal antibodies are working really well. You may recall that Trump had those and recovered quickly from being pretty sick. Chris Christie and Donald Trump are kind of poster boys for high risk individuals but both recovered fairly fast. These are now readily available and in some poorer rural communities they are being used with good success.
  16. It’s hard to predict. Our 90 year old neighbor with COPD and a host of other underlying conditions got covid, was hospitalized in the ICU but survived and is home. Also, with regard to the California vs Florida argument it makes sense in a way. Older people tend to be a lot more careful with covid, social distancing, masking etc. We’ll be there by the weekend and see for ourselves but everything I’m hearing says the oldsters are being pretty careful while in California the younger folks don’t give as much of a shit.
  17. You climbed in winter? I’ve done it in autumn but I salute you for winter!
  18. To be fair, recorded history for yby is really paltry isn’t it?
  19. No George you miss my point. 2nd year big ninas are most often terrible winters here.
  20. You get the most screwed in a reasonably decent winter award.
