  1. And here in Chicago it’s high summer. Nevertheless in the 48 hours I’ve been here I’ve seen leaf change. Temperature is not the biggest factor.
  2. Good luck to your wife! Great city especially this time of the year. One of the premier restaurant cities for sure.
  3. Flew to Chicago today. Another world here holding onto summer. 80+ tomorrow
  4. I don’t have a reasonable expectation for November. Even the best ones are mostly snow free outside of interior NNE. December through March does sometimes happen. That’s the hope.
  5. https://climate.rutgers.edu/snowcover/chart_daily.php?ui_year=2021&ui_day=271&ui_set=2 Average-arguably slightly above but it's noise this early.
  6. I agree there’s no logical explanation but that’s the bragging rights location for Boston climo.
  7. And bos had 96. Your old Wilmington location averaged close to 50% more and you ended up with 20% less. So our individual perceptions are borne out by that statistic.
  8. For me, I only care if Logan jacks which almost never happens. If. I get 14 inches and they Jack with 20 I’m happy. Conversely, if I get 6 inches and Logan gets slop I’m a little annoyed.
  9. So I woke up early today (well 8:30...that’s a couple of hours early for me considering I typically put the book down and turn off the lights at 3-3:30AM). Tons to do and traveling tomorrow evening and need to be out of the house by mid afternoon. Anyway, I took the doggie in my long pants and a sweater with a jacket over and it felt cool....and I daresay wonderful! Critters are active, squirrels are fattening by the day, and I think we have a few signs of a potential blockbuster winter ahead. Not going there yet as there are some caution flags for sure. But today I’ve made the transition and I’m happy. One year ago today on my way to the work parking garage I turned in my PIV card to security, drove my car out of the garage and started my path to freedom from the intensity of a relatively high profile job taking up 50-60 hours per week. Unfortunately family illness required about 1/3 of the past year in Chicago. Should hopefully be different this winter. I’m excited!
  10. That’s why I prefer 1993-94. One quick melt around 2/1 with a fast reload and repack.
  11. My guess is your average summer might is about 10F cooler at your elevation vs most of SNE. Here it’s pretty much required.
  12. In normal times, if you’re selling your home anywhere in SNE and parts of NNE without Central ac or splits you’re going to take a hit. Window units are less efficient and with all the issues everyone here mentions.
  13. Loud awakening this morning-bangers announcing the end of summer. I’m declaring shorts season over. Oh there will be days here and there but as a default, once 70s are the minority of days, I go long. Long pants socks moved back in, shorts socks out. We now start peering more intently at heights in AK.
  14. Squirrels are extraordinarily active and already rather plump. But those lying’ muthufukkas have fooled me for the last time!
  15. Ok folks, time to find the jackets. I’m flying to ORD Thursday evening but it appears warmth lingers there....
  16. 2014-15 had everything work out just right. That in itself is rare. Arguably the pattern Will was touting produced amazingly. But Scooter’s tantrum set it off!
  17. You guys are whacked if you think dews are over. Yeah maybe no more 88/70 but plenty of 77/67 in our future. Autumns are warm, sustainable winter is weeks later vs my youth. So relax until thanksgiving.
  18. It appears that your weather in November the winter will remember....
